The beach club was recommended by a friend who had recently visited Mantamar. The five of us decided to spend the day there to try it out. It was $1500 pesos for two, $1000 of which was applied to the tab. All the poolside cabanas had been reserved, we took a couple on the upper level. As we moved up to our area I began to notice a few things that were a concern for a seemingly high end facility such as this. All the glass railings were very dirty with oil, hand prints and smudges from the night before. They had just opened for the day and there were many employees standing about talking. I would think that cleaning the glass would be a daily activity so that the ocean view is not obscured by someone’s hand print. There were lounge covers with holes in them, worn and torn furniture, cigarette butts in various places and even plastic cups floating in the pool. The pool water was murky and needed some chemical maintenance. I’m sure it is tough to keep clean with all the lotions and oils that are introduced to it daily, but again they just had opened and there were only two people using the pool. The service was not as attentive as it should have been, he (our server) was very polite just not there when you needed him (and there were not that may guests for him to serve). It appeared there was one service bartender making drinks for several servers. If you wanted to swim up to the bar to get a refill, expect to wait to catch someone’s attention. It became obvious that others preferred not to serve you unless it was the original server assigned to you. This is a poor practice for a seemingly high-end establishment and makes the guest feel unimportant—not to mention thirsty. We ordered several food selections (burger, ceviche, shrimp cocktail, chips and guacamole) and it all came out in a timely manner and everyone enjoyed the food they had received. After a few hours we decided to call it a day and paid our $4000+ peso tab. I was left with the feeling that we could have had as good an experience (or better) for much less money someplace else along the beach. I realize that the environment they were trying to create is an expensive undertaking, but maintaining the environment to avoid a worn and torn feel is just as important as the build out. Providing high end service is also equally important to keep guests returning and build brand loyalty. As I was waiting for my friends to meet me out front the greeter girl asked how it was. I hesitated and then decided to give an honest answer. I told her not that great. I quickly (and calmly) ran through some of the reasons I felt it was not a number one experience. She sat there with a blank look on her face and then when I was finished said “well maybe next time it will be better for you”. That pretty much revealed to me that they do not care and this kind of indifference starts from the top down. This person is the first and last employee you see. She has the power (or should have) to make you feel welcome and special. She is also the last opportunity you have to truly know of the guests experience and should be empowered to fix a less than perfect one. Saying “maybe next time” implies there will be a next time…..I don’t know, will there be a next time? I hope they are still operating when I return to PV. I am a firm believer in second chances, perhaps positive change will come out of some of the reviews I have read. If the owner or manager takes the time to respond to the positive ones, he should definitely learn from some of the...
Read moreWell... The past Tuesday November 10, 2020. My brother and other two friends went to have lunch there. They had two sushi's, and one fish ceviche. After having lunch my brother went to walk and he started to feel so bad. He started to feel dizzy, he's stomach hurt a lot, he was throwing up. And went to pick him up, and he was already with fever. Also my two friends were feeling bad, and one had to travel to Guadalaja, because her medical insurance, didn't work in Puerto Vallarta. We had to take my brother two times to the emergency room. The second time, they didn't let him go.. They made a few exams , and the result was food posing. As well like my friend, her medical insurance does not work here in México, si we had to pay. I call the restaurant, and after talking to everyone there, I was able to speak to the manager, He was nice, and tell me that she was going to take care about the situation and ask, what happened. She told me to call her later, and she will tell me what they were going to do about it. We went to pick up, my brother, from the hospital because we had to travel to Guadalaja, we where not able to stay one more day. We stay a extra night because he was in the hospital. I call her back, and she told me, that I had to go to the place and talk to her in person. But we where in Nuevo Vallarta, so it was going to be a waste o gas, and my brother was feeling steal bad, and waste of time. I went because, at least we wanted to hear an apology. But no, He told me that the have to make a investigation, because she was not able to pay me the hospital bill, that maybe he eat something before going there, and he didn't. She showed me all the sushi's that they sell that day, and that we were the only ones, with that problem. That they didn't ask for the same dish, so that for here was really suspicious. But I let her know, that they all taste from the 3 plates, that's way they got all sick, but my bother was the worse, because he eat it all. Well she was not able do nothing, but wasting my time, she ask me for a copy, from the hospital records, and she told me, that if my brother was feeling bad, I was supposed to call the place immediately, 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ really? She doesn't have any, costumer service. She told me to been calling to ask, what where able to do about it. I been calling and , of course. She's not around, she's in a meeting, she's off. Be careful, because maybe wasn't really the food, maybe was something the put it to the food. I'm been reading all the reviews, and there's a lot a person, telling, that they been charged for more than they consume. So, maybe they wanted to take advantage of him, because he was feeling dizzy at first. He only had one beer , so it wasn't that. If you had the same problem, let me know, places like these should not take advantage of you. They charge you for the beach club, and also you have to buy something at least. So, we pay for a service , and we deserve a good one. I just call and she's not taking my calls, it's ok, we will...
Read moreVery deceiving place, was looking for a nice quiet and peaceful place and this place looked nice. Was promised 1 week of free entrance if I attended this time share presentation. Which they didn't come thru with. Staff if very unorganized, one person tells you one thing while another says something else. They are trying to pick up dimes and nickels when they are supposed to be a 5 star resort. Being a business owner and doing customer service for 16 years this place by far gets 5 stars in making people not want to come back. I know it's rude to say this but if they are starving for money might as well sell chiclets to keep this place running. It takes 30 minutes to get a drink, staff just standing around, not very LGBT friendly, resort is not clean at all. Don't even consider checking out the time share, as same disorganized mess. Room was full of mold, and distinct urine odor. Have stayed in better motel 6's. I was speaking to other local business owners from various establishments and they all conquered with my opinion; as well stated stated that other LGBT community have had the same issues with this establishment. I don't know if the owners are not for the LGBT community and are hungry for money but I would definitely avoid this place. Go to blue chairs, green chairs which they will treat you better and friendlier staff. Other local bars I would recommend is casa cúpula and hotel mercurio. These other places are very LGBT friendly which puerto Vallarta is known for. I could recommend other places but I do recommend for everyone to stay away from mantamar. Last but not least while on their time share presentation was given this nasty looking drink and ask for a water instead, the waiter rudely said that is not part of the deal I will have to charge. I politely told him, I do have money to pay and leave a tip. I have been to other time shares and I can tell you that if something is not covered on the tab the waiter lets the staff member know about it and doesn't make a scene in front of the customer. Again just another example of what you will be dealing with. I do feel bad because there are some great employees there and the rest of them make it bad for the rest. Not sure who is in charge of the place but definitely need some leadership, or housecleaning. Richard Hernandez our time share representative handled the whole situation correctly, even after I found out it was his first day. Doubt he will be working there longer for such a company. They are probably a 2 star resort and in a good...
