Spent six days at Hotel Real Maestranza. The hotel is top notch. Everything appears new and is extremely clean. The front desk personnel speak very good - fair English. They are also very friendly, helpful, and patient. We found the restaurant a good place to eat. Our room was lovely, had a safe, comfortable bed & modern bathroom. New to me was that the key card had to be placed in a device by the door in order for the room lights to work. Saves them money on electricity. The best part of the hotel is concierge Victor Navarro. His tag-lines are “My time is your time” and “My people are your people”. Victor had called us the day before we arrived to welcome us and to offer us any help we might have needed. When our flight arrived, our bags didn’t. The driver he sent to meet us waited while we dealt with the airline and customs. The next day while we were meeting with Victor in person my cell phone rang it was the airline calling. The representative spoke very broken English. Victor took the phone and made arrangements to have our baggage delivered to his office. When it arrived, we were on a tour. He called me to let me know it was there and asked if he could put it in our room. When we arrived back at the hotel that night it was a wonderful site to see our suitcase sitting there. Victor also arranged a car and driver for a 100-mile trip that required the driver to wait for two hours while we took care of some business we had. The next time that we spend time in Guadalajara, Jalisco we will be staying at...
Read moreThe first room they gave us was right above the bar. There was loud thumping all evening and late into the night. They said there were no other rooms available and it would be over at 11pm but it wasn't.
They have bright purple lights shining up to light up the hotel at night but they come right into your room. Since the blind is very thin it is very bright and it makes it hard to sleep.
With the noise, the bright light, and the air conditioner failing, it was hard to sleep.
I paid for a "room with a view" but that was just of a parking lot. The next day we were able to move to another room to try to get away from the noise but it was an internal room with only a window facing the lobby! The lobby had bright yellow lights which caused a similar problem with the thin blinds.
The walls are very thin - we could hear people adjusting their air conditioners and their cell phones beeping, conversations, and TV.
I live in a big city next to a train so I'm used to city noise but I shouldn't be hearing everything going on next door in a hotel.
The showers look nice and modern with no door, however the walls are too short so water sprays all over the bathroom.
The Wi-Fi was incredibly slow WiFi. 0.5Mbps (advertised as 2Mbps). You can pay more for 5 or 10Mbps but that is a joke. My cell phone is 3x faster than their fastest option. This is not really Wi-Fi in 2020!
Definitely won't be staying...
Read moreI have stayed at many hotels and this is one of the most difficult reviews I have written: Pro: Great location, newly renovated. Bright.
Con: BUG ALERT: The biggest issue is that the room we stayed at has some unknown bugs, some reaction photos are attached. We brought that to the staff after the first night and we were told we can switch our room the next day. The second morning,we unfortunately noticed more bites. We brought this up to management asked for room change which they accommodated reluctantly. we also wanted them to give us free laundry service to wash our clothes. It was denied and we were told that they did an inspection and did not see any bugs. They said it might be allergy but it happened to both of us, and these are NOT allergic dermatitis (I am a physician myself) That made us feel not being trusted. Some rooms in this hotel do not have windows to the exterior but facing the inside space. They are directly facing the elevator and does not have good cover unless you completely black out the room. We were given those room when we initially checked in.
Overall the staff were trying their best to help but the management seems not willing to trust...
