Nice lively place to pass time but nothing great or extraordinary here. Lot of cafes and individual food vendors are around for street food. Big open space for kids to play. This Plaza is also known as  "Plaza de las Dos Copas" because of its two fountains shaped like it. The Plaza de la Liberacion  was built in 1952 by Ignacio Diaz Morales to remember the abolition of slavery. The monument of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla breaking the chains of slavery. The Plaza is located opposite the Teatro Degollado and behind the Cathedral, on Hidalgo Avenue. On the north side of the plaza, next to the Museo Regional de Guadalajara, is the legislative palace. It can be identified by the thick stone columns. Across the Calle Belén to the east is the Palacio de la Justicia. It was built in 1588 as Guadalajara’s first nunnery. Inside is the mural by Guillermo Chávez. On a sunny day in summers, it gets very hot here so avoid visiting this place as there is nowhere you can take a shade to sit and relax. This is a spot in the tour package of hop on hop off city tours as well and a bus stop is right on the side...

This is one of my favorite plazas in Guadalajara. During festive events it gets really busy and they dress it up nicely. It faces teatro degollado and it is a place for many photo ops for people. During the day it is not as busy because of the heat but at night it comes alive with all kinds of people walking around and taking photos. The benches around the plaza have some shading and during the day you see people sitting around in the shade. The sunny parts lay empty. Nice place to visit when in Guadalajara Centro. I highly...
