Primos — Restaurant in Mexico City

We've lived in Mexico City for almost a year now and Primo's has become a staple for us. We go there at least 3-4 times per week - usually for breakfast or lunch. The food there is spectacular - some of the best chilaquiles in town and amazing selections and specials.

What we love most about Primo's though - is the staff there. We've been welcome with open arms since day one - and the wait staff has become like a second family to us. They all greet us with warmth and smiles and they bring our infant son his favorite things (avocado, fruit and spoons) They ask about our days and weeks and we all share photos of our families with each other. Our son absolutely ADORES the girls there (especially Sarah, Lupita and Veronica). He beams when they play with him. The staff there seems like family to each other and it makes the whole experience lovely in the mornings.

Our families come to visit from the States every month or so and then ONLY want Primo's for breakfast!

I really enjoyed the food. Simple items with great flavor and ingredients. Atmosphere for dinner was really nice and service was great. The only thing at the end when I was paying out, the guy closing my tab charged my bill in dollars, even though I spoke to them in Spanish all night. I'm fluent BTW. I didn't like that he just automatically press the dollar conversion button because I know that they automatically add a conversion to my bill. He did this without giving me time to tell him to complete the transaction in pesos. I know this is not a big deal, but the restaurant will keep the exchange based on this and my bank will do so on their end as well. I didn't really like this, but then it just made me realize that I need to pay attention before they close out my bill. Undercooked meats (raw), undercooked potatoes. Even sent back steak and it still came back out under cooked.

A steak ordered medium should not be cold to the touch on the inside. A hamburger ordered medium should not be raw ground beef. There is an international standard for this process. I do expect a small variation from nation to nation on this standard, but this was not that.

Fried potatoes were almost raw in the center. Seriously?

The Cesar salad was actually an anchovy salad. I found it Uneatable.

You guys are not hitting on the basics. When you can’t even get a French fry cooked right, things are bad.
