I was searching TripAdvisor for a place with a high rating, available the next three nights, but didn't find any. So I checked booking.com and found this place with a rating of around 8.9 (out of 10). I wanted a private room with private bath, and a "mini duplex" didn't cost a lot more (691 pesos vs. 541, both not including 19% tax), so I chose the duplex.||||What a find! It's a two-story room with windows on three walls. A stairway leads to the bed and private bath upstairs. It seems to have its own water heater. Outside is a courtyard where clothes dry; climb a flight of stairs above that to the nicely-finished roof where there are plenty of chairs and views over the city. There seem to be a few similar duplex/etc. units. My room was spotless and seemed as if it had been built recently.||||The location is great: a little more than three blocks from metro Guerrero, but on a narrow residential street that's quiet. Another metro station, Garibaldi, is about a ten-minute walk away, part of that along Paseo de la Reforma. A metrobus runs along the street that passes both of those stations.||||The common areas are very nice. The kitchen is large, and there's complimentary bottled water and coffee. They have laundry service: a washer and clotheslines. (If you want a clothes dryer, I'm sure there are lavanderias not too far away.)||||The booking.com website warns that there are stairs and that people with mobility problems should ask for the ground floor. The first stairway is wide and no problem if you're able to walk up stairs. But, above that stairway, the stairs are narrow and metal. If you're a heavy person, I think there's a chance that you'll feel uncomfortable on the last three narrow staircases, especially the spiral one. That's also might be a big gotcha if you have a large/heavy suitcase or bulky backpack. (My suitcase, which is the airlines' maximum allowed size, just fit the spiral staircase with not much room to spare. The friendly man who works here lifted it up sideways; I don't think there's any way I could have dragged it on its wheels. If you have a backpack, you may need to take it off to go up the spiral stairway. The staff can tell you better than I can, of course.)||||I hope TripAdvisor adds this listing! If they do, I'll try to remember to add a bunch of photos. This place is...
Read moreMy friend and I spent 2 days at la casa indigo for our last time in Mexico. Salvador welcomed us in the house. The place is really nice. It is a big house with wonderful rooms and common spaces. We had a double room with shared bathroom. All is clean and really nice decorated. The roof top offers a wonderful view over the city and allows to take a sunny Breakfast in the morning. Salvador made us instantly feel at home and we really enjoyed our stay there. I highly recommend...

Casa Índigo is a wonderfully restored Art Deco building, perfectly located in a very quiet but central neighbourhood.
The manager is absolutely lovely and the facilities are spotlessly clean. I especially loved the roof terrace with the view over the entire city center.
I will definitely return and stay longer next time. This is a...
