Review of Horrible Experience at Garibaldi Plaza
Dear Mexico City Officials,
I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration regarding my recent visit to Garibaldi Plaza on December 19, 2023. I believe it is crucial for management to be aware of the negative experience I encountered, with the hope that appropriate measures will be taken to rectify the situation.
Upon arrival at Garibaldi Plaza, my companions and I were immediately pursued by several mariachi gentlemen even before we had the chance to step out of our vehicle. Subsequently, upon leaving the vehicle, we were swarmed by multiple individuals aggressively and persistently trying to persuade us to dine at their respective restaurants.
One particular individual stood out for his relentless pursuit, relentlessly hounding us to visit Mi Tenampa restaurant. He went as far as deliberately blocking my path, insisting that we follow him and partake in the offerings of Mi Tenampa. Despite politely declining to accept his promotional flyer, which he wished to hand over, he became visibly upset and crumbled the flyer, throwing it at me. While my companions and I laughed at the situation, it was evident that we felt uncomfortable and decided regrettably that it would be in our best interest to leave.
It is disheartening to witness the very same individuals who are supposed to promote the iconic Garibaldi Plaza resort to such aggressive tactics that only serve to scare tourists away. As guests who traveled all the way from Chicago with the intention of immersing ourselves in the culture and contributing to the local economy, we expected a warm and inviting atmosphere. Instead, we encountered pushy and money-hungry locals who only deterred us from exploring further.
I sincerely hope that my review reaches the appropriate ears and that immediate steps are taken to bring about positive change. The aggressive and harassing attempts by individuals to draw tourists into their establishments are counterproductive and serve as a deterrent to visitors who seek to enjoy the culture, spend their hard-earned money, and make the most of their vacation time.
I trust that you will take this matter seriously and ensure that the necessary actions are implemented to prevent such experiences from occurring in the future. Garibaldi Plaza has the potential to be an outstanding destination, and with the right improvements, it can truly become a haven for tourists seeking an immersive cultural experience.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I hope to hear about the steps taken to address these concerns.
Yours...
Read moreThis space is known for their history, during the day you can eat near here and walk and enjoy the location. At night its a different place, there are more people and mariachis gather around to play for you and beat of all it is affordable. Feel free to ask them for the price prior to letting them play. Once they are done you may continue to ask them to play or just pay them and enjoy other mariachis. It used to be much nicer, do not get me wrong, it is still nice but I hope they invest on the place to make it more inviting for more people to stop by an enjoy the wonderful music mariachi's play. So stop by during the day or better yet at night.
During the day it looks nice and there are plenty of restaurants to eat either inside or outside. But at night there are plenty of mariachis playing and you can hire one for any occasion. You can walk around and listen to a small group of mariachis or a large group. It is one of the places to come and visit when in Mexico City. Just do not walk very late at night towards the city. Walk towards the main avenue and take your transportation to where you are staying. If you go away from the main avenue, it is not the best...
Read moreHonestly I heard so much about this place that maybe my expectations were a bit too high. If you walk to the place, as shared in other reviews, you pass by shady streets which made me doubt my decision to go there in the first place. When we arrived there were like 2 bars and like 10 mariachis in the Plaza. Homeless people laying around, some bad smells and that lack of spirit did not help the mood for the place. There were policemen around thankfully but it was not enough to make up for the rest. We had several problems requesting an uber from that specific location which made me and my group of relatives and friends even more anxious when trying to leave the place. We visited the place around 5pm. I was told afterwards that the place gets lighted up and you get to enjoy the holidays mood from the bar and the traditional songs from mariachis after 10:30-11pm but I just didn't feel like going back. I feel like I never got to meet the real Plaza Garibaldi. I wish the best for the ones that visit the Plaza. I hope they get to enjoy what...
