Overall, we loved our stay at MdA! ||On arrival Fernando greeted us personally. He is an exceptional host. He is a man of great attention to detail, this shows in the details of the guest rooms, in the presentation and taste of the food he serves, and in the garden oasis. As is Jorge, a gentle man, and every staff member we met, Adi our room -keeper was lovely, so much so that she learned an english expression to wish me well. ||Oh and the breakfasts on the adorable outdoor patio were a daily surprise: always a fresh fruit plate, freshly squeezed juice, and delicious breakfast that reflected Our hosts passion for food. Every day Fernando prepared a local dish from a different Mexican States. ||||The international guests were like-minded in that they wanted a friendly, intimate, authentic, local experience. Again, this is the place! ||||The garden is an oasis, hummingbird arrived near us as we were sitting outside our room. The garden setting is breathtaking. Bouganvillea flowers drop around you.|| MEven harder to believe is that we are in such a well-located area and a fabulous neighbourhood of Coyoacan, and within a 5-minute walk of Frida Kaylo’s House & Museum. ||||We leave here reenergized, nourished and grateful to have chosen MdA, grateful to our hosts at MdA! Hasta luego, it’s not goodbye! ||||Would we recommend MdA? Yes, 'in a heartbeat'. Why? Read moreI arrived by taxi at 10pm, and the owners grabbed my bags and ushered me up an outdoor staircase to the most delightful large room with a big balcony. In the morning I could appreciate all the beautiful flowers and birdsongs around the balcony, plus the lovely courtyard and outdoor breakfast area. This was my first trip to Mexico, and already I loved it! I am a retired woman traveling alone, studying Spanish, and seeing the sights. Fernando, the chef and main host, made sure all my needs were met. He obviously took joy in presenting his guests with a different breakfast dish every day. I had fourteen different breakfasts during my fourteen-day stay. Every one was delicious! During my stay, one group of guests wouldn't touch one of the items served on their plates at breakfast. Fernando had never had guests from their country before, so that evening he googled what they typically ate for breakfast in their country! And the next morning he offered some foods which these guests were more familiar with for breakfast. This guesthouse is located in the Coyoacán "colonia", a very relaxed and safe neighborhood, with restaurants, supermarket, cafés, artisan market, parks, home/Museum of Frida Kahlo and subway all within about 10 minutes' walk. Fifteen minute subway ride to the historic center of Mexico City. The first two cars of all subways are reserved for women and any children under age 12. ...
Read moreMaria del Alma offered an authentic Mexican experience in a beautiful home that has been in the owner’s family for over 100 years. We did not lack for anything during our stay - the house was located in a safe walking neighborhood, the rooms were extremely clean, fast WiFi was available, the showers had hot water, and you were even able to flush toilet paper in the restrooms. We also loved the fact that their housekeepers refreshed our rooms and even changed our bedsheets extremely often. It was a joy to wake up to breakfast and coffee cooked by the owner each morning, who was extremely intelligent and knowledgeable in multiple subjects. He was happy to give us suggestions for our itinerary and make sure that our stay was as pleasant as possible. A convenience store (where you can purchase packs of water, toiletries, and other essentials), many coffee shops and restaurants, a pharmacy, the plaza where a market is located, the Frida Kahlo Museum, and a tour bus stop were all located within blocks of the house, making this an ideal location for any tourists. We are so grateful to Don Fernando and Don Jorge for their hospitality and loved every minute of our time at...
