Chalet is a small, inviting spot that has everything I needed: quiet; clean; safe location; walking distance to sites; and very kind and accommodating staff. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and even arranged to have the continental breakfast ready a little early due to my early checkout. They gave me tips on getting into the Frida Kahlo house (pre-order tickets online to save yourself a long wait in the line--you can show them the ticket on your phone when you arrive), took the time to explain how to get to local highlights, and found me a taxi to Bazar Sabado (a Saturday morning/afternoon artisan's bazaar about 15 minutes away in San Jacinto with art, music, and nice restaurants surrounding the central square.||||From the moment I arrived, I felt instantly at ease and immediately booked a second stay for the end of my Mexico trip. On the first stay, I was in the Catalina room. It's the perfect size for one or two, on the lower level with windows out to a small garden patio, tables, and chairs. There's filtered water, coffee, and tea available in the room and a kitchenette on the next level with a little fridge, microwave, utensils, etc. ||||The room had a flatscreen TV, nice-size closet, hot water, and even a room heater for cool nights (I didn't use it - I like cool nights! - but I tried it out and it heated the place up surprisingly fast! Continental breakfast included coffee or tea, a variety of fruits, and croissants. On my return visit, I stayed in the smaller Conchita room, which also had a smaller closet and bath. It was fine for an overnight stay, but I preferred the Catalina room.||||The area is pleasant and walkable, and the Chalet del Carmen also has bikes available for guests. I wandered around by myself in the daytime and early evening and felt safe. The Chalet is about three blocks from the Frida Kahlo house, and from there I could walk to the Trotsky house, an artisan's market, and other sites. The area is so tranquil, I had to keep reminding myself I was in Mexico City. On my next visit to the DF, I'll definitely...

Afortunadamente nuestra alarma sonó a tiempo.
