Puerta Roja Roma — Hotel in Mexico City

Unprofessional and misleading service. I initially booked through VRBO because their website showed no availability for my dates. When I asked why their website didn’t allow booking while VRBO showed availability, they gave inconsistent explanations. First, they claimed their system temporarily holds certain dates after inquiries, which locks availability on their website but not on VRBO. Despite this, they assured me my reservation was confirmed and even encouraged me to reach out for any further assistance.

However, after all this reassurance, they canceled my booking at the last minute, citing a system error that allowed the reservation despite no availability. This contradicts their earlier explanations and confirmation, leaving me scrambling to find alternative accommodations with no time to spare.

All depends on the price you get and your expectations. For a hotel it was lacking. For a luxury hostel, it was great.

I booked at a rate that was expensive enough that I was annoyed at the lack of cleaning, fresh towels, broken hot tub, etc. But the spot itself was beautiful, the location terrific and the price I see now (reviewing) is 40% lower than I paid––and at that price, it would've been 5-stars.

I really enjoyed my stay at Puerta Roja Roma. Many interesting points and neighborhoods were within walking distance from this location: Roma, Condesa, Juarez, Zona Rosa. Nightlife is amazing down the block, with many bars, pubs and live Cuban music a few steps from the building, but it can get a bit loud.
