Probably one of the most authentic ramen places in Mexico, unfortunately in this fast paced Ramen world we live in it feels like it has fallen behind the times and its a bit disjointed, the setting is well, odd and spartan, its on the top floor of a japanese market and there are other food vendors at street level which I haven't tried, but are not very inspiring, the decor is 80's mcdonalds with a japanese theme and the service is bad, you sit down and they immediatelly ask you for your order, then they bring you the menu, then they ignore you.
So how's the Ramen ? Kinda meh to be honest ( based on 3 visits as I want to be fair) , I couldn't help comparing it to Deigo which is in the area, and while it might not be as authentic and it has its own problems (mostly due to the clientele), the ingredients and cooking there were magnitudes higher than Ten Teke Ten, the pork for instance was better cooked with less chewy fat, and maybe it wasn't as authentic but tasted better, the ramen was also a bit undercooked, flavorless and the ratio of broth to noodles was pathetic, which again might be due to other places compensating for local appetites,it wasn't hot to booth.
But the biggest offense was the portion size which was small in comparison, granted prices elsewhere can be higher by about $5USD and Ramen prices across the board have risen, but you'll probably leave hungry if you just order a bowl of ramen.
So there, authentic but underwhelming, good flavour but not exceptional and sadly...
Read moreAlthough there are a lot of Japanese estabishments in CDMX, this ramen place really surprised me. I don't know whether they made the broth from scratch but it tastes so much better than the usual soup mixed with bunch of seasoning here in Mexico. It has this nice fragnance and the noodles are cooked just right, not soft and overcooked like a lot places. The fried rice really tastes like a nice shop in Asia.
I will come back for more for sure. It bothers me little bit people there are too nice and welcoming. As a troubled introvert wanting no attention to myself at all, my anxiety usually gets a hold of me until I have the food in my mouth. That's when I am taken over by the...
