The 6 dumplings (2/2/2) were very cool looking (one was in the shape of a chicken) and the flavors were nice (meat, been curd and another one I can’t remember) but this dish was $480 pesos 🫣 it was worth $200 at BEST. We should have known
The Fois Gras Salad was not a salad at all. It was 4 bite sized cones of what they called Fois Gras wrapped in lettuce, but was more like tasteless fat in a bunch of herbs to make up some flavor.
The main course, Pad Thai, came in a very cool crunchy nest thing that you had to break open and then mix everything together. Once we dug in though, the noodles were very sticky (maybe over cooked?) and not regular Pad Thai noodles - more like spaghetti. The sauce was very sweet and just 1 note.
Overall the food was not exceptional as the price would have reflected, and we were pretty disappointed. It was a fine meal, but for the amount of money we spent, it was not appropriate. Especially after all the hype.
Ambience was fine. It could’ve been a little bit darker lighting. It was extremely bright for such a cozy environment.
But our main gripe was the service. It was pretty bad for such a highly respected restaurant. And we went on Valentine’s Day, which we thought would be more special.
What I believe was our waitress, only came over ONE TIME to take our order.
After that, many different people just dropped things off at our table… and slowly. No one ever asked how our food was or how we were doing. I had to call someone over to order another drink and I probably would’ve ordered even more if they would’ve just been more attentive. I gave at 2 in the review, but a 3 in the notes because someone at the very end was a little more attentive, but at that point it was too little too late.
Wound be returning, unfortunately. That was a One & Done

Read moreWhat a miss. I am very comfortable in saying that this was our worst meal in Mexico - if not my worst meal this year. The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning. I love the decor & concept. Thaï food is actually one of my favorite & I was looking forward to eating there for our last meal in the city. The cocktails are good, no complaints. The food, however, wow it was so bad. It's almost embarrassing. We ordered the plate of Lamb and a bowl of rice to start off. The looked beautiful but...
The food was lukewarm when it arrived at our table.
The Rice: flavors of burnt and I believe I tasted black licorice? I'm not sure of it was intentional. I think it was rice cooked earlier that day. Because it is impossible for it to be so hard. You can see the texture of the rice in the picture.
The Lamb: The meat was chewy. It was so hard that we had trouble cutting through the 3 pieces of Lamb. I even requested a steak knife because it was impossible for me to eat this meat without fighting it. Upon my request, the waiter explained that we shouldn't be having trouble cutting through the meat. He took our plates back in the kitchen & said we'd receive a new dish. After about 15min of wait - our plates came back with ONE PIECE OF LAMB. I was confused because the original dish had 3 pieces of Lamb. I believe that because we bit into two pieces they only decided to replace the last one. We shared the one piece of Lamb that cost us 650MEX $. The only good thing on that table was the bread and sauce that came the lamb.
After our meal, EVERYTHING was left on our table. We didn't eat anything aside from that one piece of lamb. The waiter brought us ice cream from the chef. To apologize for our experience. But, we didn't eat it - why would we eat ice cream when we came for dinner? We left hungry & down 875$MEX... We've traveled the world & ate at many different establishments... This was just very bad and probably one of the...

Let’s be clear: Galanga is, without question, the worst Thai restaurant I have ever set foot in—and I’ve experienced Thai cuisine around the world, from the bustling streets of Bangkok to the refined kitchens of Paris. Not only does Galanga serve food that lacks any semblance of authenticity, flavor, or finesse, it has earned a rare distinction in my dining experiences as one of the absolute worst restaurants I have ever visited.
How this establishment found its way onto the Michelin Guide remains an utter mystery, and frankly, it’s a stain on the Michelin name. At Michelin’s supposed level, one would expect a certain standard—a modicum of culinary respect, a whisper of skill, a suggestion that someone in the kitchen actually knows what they’re doing. Yet here, none of that exists. Instead, what you’re treated to is a high-priced, laughable mockery of Thai cuisine, as if someone were cooking based on vague memories of a travel documentary.
The prices are astronomical, farcically high for what you receive. For the privilege of dining at Galanga, you’ll pay a small fortune for food that is, quite literally, inedible. I took one bite, and that was enough to discover that not only was the food flavorless and carelessly prepared, but it actually made me feel nauseous.
To anyone considering this restaurant: avoid it at all costs. There are countless dining options in this world worth your time and money, but Galanga is not one of them. Save yourself the aggravation, and Michelin, it’s time to reconsider how this place ever...
