Just had dinner here - thought it would be a nice way to wind down for the evening with my friends. However, this was not the case. We thought the selection of food was quite impressive and, as such, ordered a variety of dishes, including a much-anticipated wild boar taquito, something we had not yet come across during our travels across Mexico. The rest of our dishes and drinks came in good time and were adequately pleasant, especially the tuna ceviche. When the time came to try the wild boar taco, we noticed a strange resemblance to the ceviche. Perhaps this was simply what wild boar taquito looks like - after all, we were unfamiliar with this dish. And yet, one bite was all it took - this was a tuna taquito, clearly not what we had ordered. The ensuing debacle was the catalyst for this review. When we brought up this unfortunate error and requested a change of dish, it was explained to us that since we ordered taquito, we had no right to expect a change. Of course, a quick scan of the menu made it obvious that this was quite a ridiculous suggestion - there were perhaps 15 dishes with a taquito option (literally translating to little taco), and we had not ordered the wild boar taquito in the expectation that we could be served just any old little taco. We demanded to be served our correct dish, to which we were told that the kitchen had refused, on the basis of the fact that taquito had been ordered and cooked. We eventually managed to successfully request wild boar taquito, but were then told that we would have to pay for the tuna tacos we had been served. We, of course, refused to pay, which brought about it another spell of unhelpful discourse. It was suggested to us that it would be not be possible to remove the tuna taquitos from the bill. We explained that we would not pay for this food that we had not ordered. Eventually, the item was removed, proving that it was, indeed, entirely possible to remove an item off a bill. It was an extremely uncomfortable situation to have been in and it really did feel as though we were being bullied into paying for a mistake that we had not made. Needless to say, this was a bad experience and I would not recommend eating here. There are plenty of other places to eat with far better service and, frankly, far...
Read moreWaited 45 min for a table but the bar area was cool and they can transfer your drink order to the table so you don’t have to close out. Food was good but it came out cold. We ordered the cheese and it was pretty hardened and gross lol we sent it back to get heat up and they forgot about it. The bizancio a caballo was also congealed. I don’t think there’s anything worse than cold melted cheese.
I appreciated how it wasn’t that geared toward tourists though. There was also a lot of variety on the menu. I got a meatball taco that was stuffed with an egg. Quite interesting.
However, they ran out of three of the fish taco options so my pescatarian friend had to order a mushroom taco lol.
They also didn’t give our table any accompaniments like salsa so I guess you have to ask for that?
The cazuela was great. I forgot which one we got but it’s the second pic. Meat was super tender and flavorful that was the best and most redeeming part of dinner. Honestly this is the only reason this was a 4 star review and not a 3 star review.
Also, the sangria is AWFUL do not get it. I don’t even know how to describe how bad it was but none of...
Read moreCome during the day, the main room is flush with sunlight. Besides the atrium, there's a side room with a few 2-tops, and another that's a mini bar room. Great space to wait for a table if there's room.
I stopped by on a Sunday around 7pm and got seated immediately, but by the time I left an hour later it was hoppin.
Sopa del dia was cameron -- I can't remember the last time I had a bad shrimp soup anywhere, but they were cooked perfectly in this one.
Taco Baja Norte was a respectable fried whitefish taco. The mayo-based dressing was sparing, which left me in the dilemma of having it as-is, or overwhelming it by adding salsa.
Taco Muñeca (con chamorro de cerdo) had a generous portion of pork shank and was good, but if you enjoy it they sell a larger version that's a full shank.
Ensalada Tepepan was great. I like the veggie combo, and it was lightly dressed with a rosemary infusion that worked well.
Was here by myself so my order was limited. In a group, I'd love to try the pellizcada (a much higher level of maiz than the humble taco tortilla), and some of the...
