We had a very pleasant 3 night stay here. We booked a junior suite which was one the first floor of the main building. The room and bathroom were spacious if somewhat plain and sparsely furnished, in true colonial style. This means the fixtures and fittings are old and well worn. The room does benefit, however, from air conditioning and a mini fridge with two small bottles of water provided daily. Out side of our room there was also a nice semi covered verandah with sofa and chairs for relaxing. There are no tea and coffee making facilites or a hairdryer in the room.||||The grounds are beautiful, which you would never guess from the exterior, which is on the main street. There is a lovely swimming pool and lush gardens with shaded table and chairs and a few good quality sun loungers. The hotel provides pool towels. There is also a small spa for massages and facials, which I didn't unfortunately, have time to try out.||||Breakfast is included and taken in the garden. This was OK but the same every day - basically fruit juice or fruit with eggs in whatever style you want. This is not a full service hotel so there is no restaurant, although there is a bar in the garden that apparently is open until 3pm for drinks and snacks but as were were out during the day I can't vouch for it.||||The hotel has wifi. It's not great from within the room but was fine on the verandah, in the lobby and in the grounds.||||Location is perfect and Cuernavaca is a great small city. Its just a few minutes walk from the cathedral and the zocalo but quiet. There are lots of eateries to choose from. Check out Casa Hildago, which was our favourite. A meal here is a little pricier; budget for around £50 for two with a bottle of wine, but the setting, food and service is excellent. ||||There is a bus station almost opposite for buses to Xochichalco (on weekends only) and it's about a 10 min walk to the station where buses operate to Taxco. A beautiful town for a day trip and highly recommended; buses take about 1.40 hrs each way and cost c120 pesos for the executive service.||||The reception staff are helpful and speak some english.||||Overall...
Read moreWe really like staying in older more eccentric locations as like the character of unique locations.....We thought this would be a terrific fit but it was flat out terrible. First off the good...People are nice there and accommodating and the pool is of course flat out gorgeous. Everything else is a MAJOR disappointment. We were first led to a room which was like a dungeon...little lighting, sparsely furnished with a strong mouldy smell which on going outside appears to be due to poor roofing. We felt like it was a renovated garden shed. We asked for another room which we kindly received and this was much larger with a bit more light and depressingly decorated. Dark colors and literally as little as possible spent on wall decorations...Only two medium sized towels with no hand towels, a spider in the bathroom (Normally not a big deal but indicative of hotel), no bed skirts on two beds (so it looks like a dorm), bed sheets on main king bed don't quite fit, some road noise (which were were fine with) but view overlooking a public parking lot (Only some rooms overlook road), lamps haphazardely connected to plugs so cables meander from side wall across to side tables, nowhere to really comfortably sit and watch tv other than a small basic coffer table and unconfortable basic chairs...basically the room seemed thrown together and was depressing to stay there...thankfully it was only for one night as the clincher was that there is NO INTERNET in the rooms...and they seem perfectly fine with that....Having stayed in many older places, they solve this with have additional routers based on the architecture of the hotel....one place I stayed had one for every two rooms and based on the price of this hotel I would have expected similar. Had to go and make skype calls from the lobby and fortunately my meeting was at 7AM as internet in the lobby stopped working for 4 hours midday...Had left my girlfriend there to work while visiting family and she ended up having to read instead. Based on pricing, this is trying to position itself as one of the best options in Cuernavaca....It simply isn't...not...
Siempre estuvieron atentos a todas nuestras necesidades.
