I just got back from 3 days at this property while visiting for a wedding and WOW, what an amazing place. Firstly, it’s not a Ritz-Carlton, so don’t expect that. It’s more like a quaint locals home you’re staying in and I couldn’t have loved it more. Each room looks different, the lobby stair case is so cute, I felt very secure, and the staff was always there to assist us. We arranged transportation to and from the airport through the front desk for about $40 each way for two people. They had the car there waiting both times and they covered payment to the drivers. The free breakfast was SO good and the views were unmatched. Everyone who worked there seemed to love what they did and it made us feel like we were part of the family. The rooms had A/C which is kind of rare there and we never ran out of hot water. (Our friends who stayed at other places said hot water was an issue.) There was always someone at the front desk to let us in late at night and the location was so perfect to everything walkable. You don’t have to take my word for it, but if you want a local, safe, friendly, clean, and centrally located hotel in Oaxaca, this...

Read moreThis is a very unique hotel. The main feature is a winding wood railed staircase that connects to levels for the rooms. Each room is different. They are given names and are not numbered. Rooms are furnished with antique furniture. The room was quite spacious with a comfortable bed, satellite TV, desk, two sofas and a coffee table. The bathroom is a treat from the past. I stayed in Mio Cid on the top floor near the roof terrace which is a great place to have a good breakfast at a reasonable price. The preparation is done on the rooftop kitchen by two wonderful women. Full breakfast includes fresh breads, coffee, eggs, juice and a platter of fresh fruit.||The staff is very courteous and will also book a tour for you and arrange hotel pick-up.||||The location is near all of the things you plan on doing in Oaxaca. Around the corner from the Zocalo, near the markets, good restaurants and shopping.||||I would have given it a higher rating but it has some drawbacks.Inefficient LED lighting. You must read at the desk or in bed.||The air conditioner was not able to remove all the humidity from the room making it a bit...
