I have stayed at Mesón Hidalgo three times in all three rooms. Yes! This property is very intimate and has only three suites, very well spaced out offering privacy for all guests.
Each room is very charming and you'd be happy with any choice whether you want a room that's tucked away with a special terrace (Juana), something grand on the ground floor (Chana), or a place on the terrace with a large patio to enjoy your breakfast (Su Hermana).
This place is also incredible if you wanted to book all three rooms for your friends or family. When we did this once, everyone enjoyed it very much.
My favorite thing about this hotel is the breakfast as well as the unbeatable location. I love getting the choice of fruit, granola, and yogurt each morning with fresh juices and coffee. Keep in mind, in San Miguel, many places do not have AC if this is something you are used to.
The hotel also has boutiques to shop local wares such as Xinu perfumes or Laura Kirar's own curated store. The owners are creative, well-travelled, and friendly. I loved hearing their stories about how the hotel came to be as well as their wishes to retain its original bones. I also really appreciate every interaction I've had with the other staff in person and through Whatsapp.
I highly recommend supporting a locally owned small business and if you can get a spot here, you won't regret it. Here are some images that I've taken on my visits there as well as all...
Read moreI visited San Miguel for the first time in September 2022. I was traveling solo for my birthday. SMA is a place I have wanted to visit since Travel & Leisure named it the World's Best City in 2017. Staying at Mesón Hidalgo was a dream! I truly felt transported to a different era. Every room is exquisitely designed which I am a big fan of when traveling. It was the perfect cozy "little" place for a solo traveler with only three rooms. During my 3-night stay, I did not see any of the other guests. I think only 2 of the rooms were occupied. It was so peaceful and It was actually really hard to leave my room every morning. I had to drag myself out of bed every single day. I picked Chana – the biggest of the sister rooms – and it did not disappoint. I loved the 18-foot ceilings and the beautiful layers of color on the walls. The location is also perfect. The house is two blocks away from el Jardín, the main square where the cathedral is. Erica and the team were so helpful. They answered all my questions before arriving via email and WhatsApp and they helped me arrange a taxi for my hot air balloon ride. They also recommended the tacos and tequila food walking tour on Viator. It was a great way to get acquainted with the town on your first day. I hope to come back and...
Read moreI had the absolute most incredible staying at Meson Hidalgo. After visiting San Miguel de Allende for the first time, I was welcomed with open arms by the incredible host Laura Kirar, an internationally renowned interior and product designer. On my first day I took a perfume workshop at one of the regular venders at Meson called Xinu. I met some new friends in the group as well as a custom scent. The aesthetic of the complex are just gorgeous and a pleasure to wake up to. The guest room I had, Chana was luxuriously grand and the beds + pillows were the perfect thing to come back to after a nice day of local shops and bars. The location is pretty great as it is very central and a block away to the main plaza called Parroquia De San Miguel Arcangel. At night it is just breath taking and filled with local festivities and night life! Thank you Meson and I cant wait...
