RESTAURANTE DONOVAN — Restaurant in San Miguel de Allende

We stopped in this churro place for their specialty.

We ordered the churros with whipped cream and the churros with hot chocolate.

I've had much thicker hot chocolate to dip churros at other places, although it was a tasty drink. Not really easy to dip without dripping.

The churros were cold, which seems crazy at a place that specializes in them.

We were almost finished with our afternoon treat when they finally died the bottle of water I ordered.

Cute setting, but there are definitely better places for this...

Now I'm betting we stopped in not long before they were closing but they another big table in for churros so they told us to come in. Churros rellenos. One of the world's greatest marvels. If you've ever had them in town square, you know you have to have them again.

But cold? This is equivalent of a forged masterpiece. It looks fantastic, but holds no earthly value. If they were fresh, I'm sure this place would have earned a 3 star. But they also lost 2 when I found chocolate syrup ...

Excellent food, I had the chilliquelies, very good. They advertise their hot chocolate and churros. The hot chocolate is good. The churros at Costco are better. These are kind of dense and served cold. The service, was very good, but we got there between breakfast and lunch so there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. My mates all enjoyed their meals. So the food is good, just don't go specifically for the hot chocolate...
