DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Veracruz — Hotel in Veracruz

First, let me say that I started this review while having one of the worst breakfasts at a Hilton that I have had in years. Last weekend, I had a wonderful weekend stay at the Hilton LAX Airport.||I was trying to impress The in-laws with an American brand where I had status. I let this review sit for a day or so to ensure I was objective and not in the moment. ||1. Check-in: the process was arduous, and the front desk staff was understaffed, especially for a busy, hot weekend. The staff was friendly, and the manager understood that it was hot and the air conditioning was faulty and brought cold water to those waiting. ||2. Waiting for the room: The bartender was annoyed that he had to serve people, and multiple servers demanded that we prove we could charge to our room. I am acutely aware of the overt racism in Mexico, which I am usually the beneficiary of and my partner is the victim of. So, I typically let my partner pay for things. | |3. The Room: The view is the best part of the stay; the room is clean, and it is time to refresh the decor, but the hotel is undergoing that right now. For Ice, it seems you have to go to the Bar to get it, which makes sense since an ice machine on every floor is extravagant. The faucet in the bathroom leaked. The towels are how I know if the management is reinvesting or draining the property, which is the true difference.  The towels are the standard Hilton design but are old, have holes, and are falling apart.  The air conditioning (AC) was loud. The AC leaked in my in-law's room, and the floor was like the children’s pool.||4. The Pool: A good start; it needs steps to go into the pool; the ladder is so old-school and not very inviting. Designed for families. With a kiddie pool and a hot tub for mom and dad to hide. This is not a pool for young or single adults, with no sound system or bar; it is empty and quiet. The saltwater pool is nice despite facing the city, versus the 5s downtown PDC, which faces the ocean.| |4. Service: The management and the front desk staff are accommodating. The servers were slow; each time ordering food, they wanted to check if we could charge the room and aggressively did not want to take my partner's or his family's order. I'm a frequent traveler. This was my first time at Double Tree 🌳 Veracruz and it went beyond amazing. The service, THE FOOD, the rooms, the staff and the cleanliness of the building are EXCELLENT. Not the typical 2 star trashy breakfast buffet, their Breakfast Buffet is from another world prepared and served by a TERRIFIC CHEF!! The breakfast dishes are a tour around the Mexican Cuisine. From Perfectly made empanadas to delicious brunch meals. Im not joking, the food here is amazing! AND!!!! They hire people with special needs and disabilities, they give opportunities to women, young students and seniors so their staff is happy and treats you with so much respect and love which makes this place SO SO SPECIAL and lovely. PLEASE stay there this place is now one of my favorite places away from home. I will stay here from now on every time I come to Veracruz. I honestly think that the quality of the services provided here is beyond amazing. They make you feel pampered, special and at home!!! A high quality hotel at a great location at a good price!!
