Hotel Al Alba Hammam & Restaurant — Hotel in Asilah

10 minute walk from the old medina of Asiliah.

We were a couple on our honeymoon and the hotel pleasantly surprised us with a nice gift, a hammam and couples massage.

Positives: Across the street from the beach, 10 minute walk to the medina, large spacious room, vintage Moroccan decorations in the room and throughout the hotel/riad, hammam and massage in the hotel, breakfast and dinner available for an extra charge.

Complication- We enjoyed our stay at this boutique hotel/riad. Only one major complication we had was when we were dropped off at the airport and the price shown on the hotel list and our agreed price the day before didn't match what our driver wanted when he dropped us off. It made for an uncomfortable discussion and lost time- please update your price list to match what the agency believes they are getting. Thanks.

As for the city Asiliah, it is a really small and more quiet coastal town and medina. The city is build up along the ocean and we can see it being more busy during warmer months for surfers and sunbathers (we stayed in November).

The white and blue buildings in the medina are nice to photograph and we can see the city becoming more developed to accommodate tourism in the upcoming years. Currently, there is a small variety of restaurants and riads to stay at in the actual medina. Hope this helps.

A great restaurant recommendation just outside the medina we would highly recommend and try to show up upon opening to get a table in this restaurant- Dar al Maghrebia.

Al Alba is a charming little hotel on the outskirts of Asilah. It's not huge, but our room was comfortable, and there is a very nice downstairs area where you can hang out and chill amid pretty Moroccan decorations. We reserved their set dinner which was pleasant without being spectalar. Breakfast was quite good. The location has both its positive and less positive aspects. It is set off a relatively non-descript road just north of Asilah, about a block away from a wide beach. Walking into the historic center of Asilah takes about 15-20 mns, but on the other hand the hotel is silent and you can park your car right outside, which is not the case with hotels in the medina. My general advice would be to stay here if you have a rental car, but in the center if you are traveling by public transport. I can''t really judge the beach since we were there before the start of the season. But Asilah old town in certainly worth a few hours...

Was ich hier gelernt habe - lassen Sie sich nicht vom ersten Eindruck täuschen! Ankunft in Asilah nach sehr langer und ermüdender Autofahrt war enttäuschend! Das Hotel nicht gleich gefunden da das Schild halb runtergebrochen war, die Gegend rund um das Hotel vermüllt und anscheinend auch etwas unsicher. Meine Laune eher im Keller - aber dann kam die Überraschung! ||Das Hotel Al Alba - ||Einrichtungsstil Marokkanisch - Spanisch, was wohl daher führt dass der Besitzer ein Spanier ist. Alles blau/ weiss gehalten. ||Zimmer: Hier ein Tipp, lassen Sie sich die Zimmer vorher zeigen, die Zimmer in den oberen Etagen sind auf jeden Fall heller und grösser als die im Erdgeschoss. Man muss dazu sagen dass die Zimmer recht hellhörig sind - man muss sich daran gewöhnen (leider recht oft so in Marokko), Badezimmer Amenities und Handtücher vorhanden, Bett recht klein für zwei Erwachsene, schöner Stil und sehr sauber!||||Restauration: grosses Kompliment! Kulinarisch das Highlight unserer Reise. Schöne Karte verschiedener Gerichte, ein Mix aus neu Marokkanischer-mediterraner Küche, einfach ohne viel Schnickschnack angerichtet, nette Details, Geschmacklich hervorragend||Auch das Frühstück sicher eines der reichhaltigsten marokkanischen Frühstücke mit lokalen Spezialitäten direkt aus der Küche zum probieren||||Hammam: das Hotel hat einen kleinen eigenen Hammam - sehr preiswert, sauber und wunderbar! Ich war schon in recht vielen Hammam aber hier war es sehr authentisch und die 50-minütige Massage toll.||||Service/ Personal: herausragend! Schlussendlich ist es immer die Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft des Personals die den Aufenthalt zu einer bleibenden Erinnerung machen oder ihn am liebsten ganz schnell vergessen lassen möchten. Trotz Sprachbarrieren haben wir viel gelacht, uns viel Tipps geholt und eine ganz tolle familiäre Atmosphäre vorgefunden - und das in einem kleinen weiss/ blauen Haus, irgendwo in einer nicht ganz so tollen Gegend!||||Wenn Sie in Asilah sind - schauen Sie auf jeden Fall vorbei, sei es auch nur ein Besuch...
