Hôtel Cap Sim — Hotel in Essaouira

We arrived with a Tour group and we're given room number 20. Immediately we noticed water puddles on the floor around the toilet. We told the front desk and they offered to change our room but the room only had 2 single beds. Another room lower down was hot and noisy because there is no air conditioning. The only circulation comes from the central atrium that is not open to fresh air. So we stayed in our room with a. Promise to fix the toilet. That never happened. Getting up in the middle of the night to use the toilet and stepping on a wet towel was not ok. ||Breakfast was a bread butter and jam. Not the nice variety we had at other hotels on the tour. Our tour leader complained and the next day they added one scrambled egg. ||Location in the medina is the only good part...

The location of this hotel is great, I loved being in the medina and right in the middle of everything. I walked everywhere and could easily find my way back to the hotel. There are a few tradeoffs for that, one of which is the lack of an elevator in this older building. I was on the top floor and it was a bit of a hike every time I went to my room and the wifi didn't reach upstairs. I liked the breakfast here- simple with pastries and bread and jam, butter, etc. but it was fresh and tasty. There isn't air conditioning here, so bring bug spray if you're going to leave the windows open. We stayed here for an extended break in Essaouira and were very happy with all aspects of the hotel.||It is located in a prime position near to the main square.||All the staff are kind and helpful and want you to have a pleasant experience.||Very satisfactory and filling Moroccan style breakfast included in the price.||The rooms with bathrooms are all nice. The rooms with shared bathrooms are quite basic, but obviously cheaper.||The main negative was that the front rooms were quite close to the early morning Imam singing, but that probably applies around the town.
