Here's my two cents of my experience with Sandalwood Hotel:- About the hotel I noted that I will be arriving early and I really appreciate the early check-in and the room is ready! All the staff [from bell-boy, guard, reception, cleaners, restaurant staff] whom I met are friendly, kind and helpful which make my stay very pleasant. Though most of them I would need to use sign language (as they have limited understanding of English). Keep it up! Thumb up for the breakfast! My room is clean and spacious! I notice that each floor has different decoration, try to explore it, well done! City view is ok. Do not expect "wow/ amazing ...". It is not like other big cities e.g. London / Shanghai/ etc after all.
Area of improvement:- The hotel entrance is at the side with stairs so it may not be friendly for disable person. You may need to get help from the security guard. I would really encourage other staff [aside from reception] to receive some language training. Throughout Myanmar, at least the 6 cities/town which I have visited, [ALL] hotels do not accept credit card and it is very common. If you can make it available, it will be a plus point, but if you can't, you may need to spell it out, most travelers will understand. TV location inside the room, a bit weird. May consider providing lotion. May consider providing welcome drink. Local Grab car may not know this hotel, they might think the other Grand United.
Hotel location and surrounding This is what makes this hotel worth the value to stay. Located near to everything ~ China Town, food stalls, restaurants, gadgets, temple, city hall, etc. In short,...

The worst hotel I've ever stayed in with a price of around 35 US dollars per night because of what?
I have to call the receptionist 3 times to deliver my towels because the towels were not available when I entered the room
The male receptionist is very friendly but far different from the female receptionist who is very cute
the room is very very old-fashioned, gloomy and scary impression
there are coffee makers and glasses but there are no tea, coffee and sugar sachets that they provide
breakfast is not good, the fried rice is hard. the meat is also hard. plus their myanmar tea is very good and the corn chips are also very good
the most annoying thing and I give one star is that during my stay there for 3 nights my room has not been cleaned even once even though I have told the receptionist to clean it.
My advice is to avoid staying here if you don't want to be disappointed, find another better hotel but I don't guarantee that a hotel like this hotel in Yangon can be even better. for trip.com please lower this hotel's star to one star because 3 stars are very deceiving, even this hotel can be like a hostel...
Read moreI stayed in this hotel twice in two different rooms in a span of one week. In the first time I arrived very early at 11:00 am and, although check-in time is 2:00 pm, staff allowed me at 11:00 am, as a room was available. Natural light has access to the guest rooms and that was my first priority. I liked their welcome fruit platter. In the past I did not get such a treat from other, more expensive hotels in the area. Complimentary breakfast is good. My guest room had all amenities that I needed, including a kettle and plenty of complimentary drinking water bottles and tea/coffee sachets. I liked the wall clock, which gave me a feel that I am in my home. The internet connectivity is good. I only wish that they had a built in wall light in the desk area. Upon my request, the hotel provided me with a desk lamp. That was very useful for my work and I profusely thank the hotel for this gesture. The hotel tariff is relatively less than other hotels in the area and it is value for money. Staff is friendly...
