If you are from a city and looking for some serene, picturesque escape - away from the nerve-wrecking traffic n crowd of the city - then check in to Waterfront Resort Pokhara. It’s tucked away from the hot & happening market area of Pokhara where most of the hotels, restaurants n shops are. I am from a metropolitan so I chose this property to experience some moments of absolute calmness.
It is right next to the beautiful Fewa Lake and you can see paragliders flying over the lake and touching ground right next to the resort. It is an amazing view. If you plan to paraglide, I suggest you talk to someone right there n book it. They give you better price than the shops around.
Waterfront Resort is a great hotel for family vacations. Lots of free area for kids to run around n play. Your kids will love to move around the Fewa Lake - up & down.
The rooms are excellent n have all the facilities like tv, electric kettle & safe, clean bed, towels, bathtub and toileteries.
The biggest breakfast is average. It us mainly English with toast, eggs, juices, muffins, noodles, fresh fruits n veggies, sausages and a couple of more items You will find one or two Indian dish on the menu like paratha or poori-bhaji. The taste is nice.
I found the hotel staff a little slow and indifferent. They are courteous but aren't warm n welcoming. Their first instinct is to ignore your resquests. Yes, the eventually turn it down somehow. Also it's weird but the restaurant staff is always in a hurry to clear the table. You get up to get a glass of juice n your plate with food is gone.
There is a Japanese restaurant five steps away from the resort. Exit from the main gate n you will see it in the same row. It serves great Indian food and the staff is nice and adorable. They advise you well. It is not very expensive as well. Highly recommended.
For cabs n adventure activities the hotel charges almost the double of what you get outside. You can also find private cabs outside the resort. They charge anywhere between 2500-4500 NPR for a full day trip depending on the number of tourist spots destinations you want to tick off.
Waterfront Resort has got an excellent location. I am not the touristy type of traveller. So it was perfect for a lazy traveller like me. I will not call it luxurious but it does offer you a comfortable stay n excellent location. Plus I found this great Japanese restaurant serving Indian food right outside the resort.

Read moreWhere do I start? I usually do not write reviews; let alone bad reviews but the behavior of one particular senior staff on duty really made my stay an awful experience (28th Jan 2020 night). I did not get a room with a balcony because I did not mention it prior to booking which is fair enough. I am willing to make peace with that. But I got a room during the month of Jan where the aircon heating made an awful lot of noise it was hard to stay in the room. That’s pretty unacceptable; and no apology was made. Rather I was told the previous guest did not have issues as though I was making it up. Customer service? Are you serious? This person has no sense of that. An empathetic response was all that was required.
Next, the hotel offers free pick up service to guests. But since I did not need pick up at the time of booking I had arranged for a free drop off service to the airport. However, this person flatly refused and said the charge would be 600 Rs (fixed price). I don’t mind paying; it’s not much but it’s about being ethical with guests. I tried to explain but he just wouldn’t listen. There was no one more senior I could talk with. So I gave in and paid the 600 Rs.
However, when I realized that a taxi will take me to the airport for half the price I decided to get the refund and paid the taxi driver with a good top up and got to the airport. The same senior staff on duty then tells me that 600 Rs is a special price for me and normally it is 800 Rs. He had previously told me that 600 Rs. was the fixed price?!? He obviously was dishonest frankly speaking.
I told the him that customer service doesn’t work this way. You have to be flexible and if not then at least empathetic. I was glad I got to tell him about how my experience was ruined by his terrible service. I do not think he took any of that in and even at the end of the conversation he was still making up stuff and trying to put the blame on me. Just saying, “I am sorry I understand you” would have been enough really.
It’s a shame because we are such regular customers at the hotel. We always recommend everybody...
Read more2 mins read: The hotel had average rooms for the price. I came to know about this hotel as I had a coupon (which gives me 50% off for a room for 1 night). I had booked the hotel beforehand and at the same time inquired about the use of coupon through call and on premise). However, the staffs at the reception were reluctant to offer assistance regarding the use of coupon which is solely given by them for their own marketing strategy. The manager Mr. Amrit made a commitment to offer coupon service on the last day before we left the hotel, however the commitment had not been reached.
I confirmed to stay for three nights through a phone call and also when I arrived at the hotel. We booked 2 rooms in total. I know that getting a call to confirm your arrival is normal. However, I was contacted daily to confirm my stay as they stated "the hotel is packed and they want to confirm my 3 night stay was really a 3-night stay or not" saying their hotel is packed so they were just checking (everyday). It was a bit annoying.
This is not just a google review. We clearly told the staffs what quality they lack and gave them suggestions of how a hotel staff should be focused on hospitality and we are not there to train or teach them anything. We can only give them a review about how we felt. It is their duty to make it comfortable for us given the amount we have paid for their average service. It is not just about money but the sense of welcomeness you should feel when staying at such a property.
The room cleaning was average as well.
Only the restaurant staff were in fact professional and service oriented. Kudos to them. 3 stars here are in fact for them.
Some suggestions of improvements: Improve the electrical plugs in the room (difficult to even charge phones with loose sockets) Improve WiFi service (very useless WiFi,...
