We had to make a last minute booking day of because our original Airbnb was not conducive to our needs. Thankfully we were able to book a room at the NHow hotel in such short notice. We chose this hotel because of the location and the amazing views. We hadn’t originally planned to come to Rotterdam, so this was a fun way to make a change. The hotel is very modern and the views are stunning. We arrived to the hotel at 11:30 pm due to our sudden changes in plans. I had booked through a third party and only one of our rooms went through. It took about 45 minutes to get the issue resolved with the front desk agent, but we finally got a room. The agent gave us a small upgrade to a room with a larger bed and extra twin bed for our troubles. I booked a room for my mother and hers went through without a hitch, however, when she got up to her room, it was already occupied by another guest. This was a pretty big discrepancy on the hotel, but they were very quick to rectify the situation and upgraded my mother’s room to a larger room with a beautiful view. To be fair, I had to book the rooms only a few hours before we checked in and we arrived extremely late. While it was a bit cumbersome to go through the check in process, we felt that they did their best to accommodate us, especially with such short notice. Overall, we have had a really pleasant stay. We opted to try the breakfast on our second day and while it was a little expensive, they had a nice assortment of foods, including freshly pressed OJ (a sign of quality), a latte machine, different kinds of croissants, and a charcuterie spread among other things. We were able to eat to our liking and found the breakfast to be a very satisfying. But what made the breakfast exceptional was the service we received from Sonia, the hostess. She was a bright light and she was very accommodating to us. Not only did she greet us very warmly, but she made it a point to connect with us and our 7 month old baby. She was lovely to talk to and made us feel very welcome. Before we left she had brought our daughter a cute stuffed monkey with the hotel logos on it. We really appreciated the kindness she showed us. Her warmth really raised our experience and we are really glad that we were able to book here. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a centrally located place to stay, with stunning views, beautiful architecture, and a modern touch. Thank you, Sonia, for making our grey October day bright! **This picture is the view from our room,...
Read moreFor such a fancy hotel, there were many annoying small issues. Will not be staying there again. Amenities available in every hotel are not available even upon order. Application to order stuff is not functioning properly. At breakfact, the room is occasionally restricted, and therefore there are issues in finding an available table. The hotel asks you to act ecologically but a light in the wardrobe is shining all night. In a normal room, the "urban view" means the room faces a crossing (trams all night), and with a bit of a bad luck, a third of the window (and half of the room's space) is blocked by a pillar - better ask before moving in whether you have a pillar in your room and where. There is a wet/mouldy smell in the bathroom. The hotel lures you into its bar, but when you want to go there, it is closed, and when it opens, they only let you sit in a corner, because the terrace and tables with a view are booked. They ask you to act ecologically but a light in the wardrobe is on all night long (did not find out how to turn it off). Many information provided is incomplete/not clear. There's a narrow and sharp door sill in the bathroom - stepping on it accidentally (in the night, darkness) is painful. The bed is covered with a heavy double duvet - too thick for hot days and very uncomfortable to use, if you move during your sleep. Check the type of your duvet and ask for a single one id you travel alone. Don't know whether the duvet for two is also provided in rooms for couples. Positives: The air condition work also when you are not in the room, i.e. you don't melt/freeze upon entering. The soap and shampoo are very nice. The WiFi works. There are enough sockets for chargers (normal and USB). Coffee machine in the room. Breakfasts are good: lots of fruit available, a cook makes you a sunny side up or omelette for breakfast, fresh orange juice or tortillas with avocado...
Read moreA stay that left me with mixed feelings.
The location is great! Close to transit, parking at the hotel and nearby. Enough places in the neighbourhood to keep entertained.
With COVID-19 I expected a hotel not as busy but it was more crowded than I expected. They took precautions and had proper instructions.
Check-in went smooth. The hotel being more crowded than I expected probably resulted in me not being able to get a room upgrade when I presented my AMEX Gold card.
You can easily most the instructions on how to operate the elevator. Which is restricted to card use only, except for floors 6 and 7 (breakfast and restaurant). Due to the COVID-19 measures waiting for the elevator takes longer as you recommend only 2 per elevator.
The room looks nice and you get a decent view depending on where you're located. Some design choices didn't make sense. I thought there was no vault but apparently there is a hidden door between that this. The wardrobe and tea station were more clearly marked. The TV was off set from the bed. And during the day and when lights were on had too glare from the TV furniture used.
The power socket next to the bed came out of its seating when I pulled my phone cord out. That startled me. The sink stopper/plug was broken which resulted in the water not draining. I reported this to see how they would solve it. They opted to keep me in the room and remove the stopper completely.
The bed made a lot of noise when moving on it. But when you laid still it was a damn comfortable bed. I woke up very rested.
Toilet had a separate bidet. And spacious. Shower area big enough for 2 people.
During normal times (pre/post COVID) it will probably be a decent stay. I however felt for what I paid I got a better room at nhow Berlin. And also a better...
