Camelot Hotel
We recently stayed for a 3 night stay, the room that we were allocated was extremely poorly lit with 2 light fittings out. The reception staff were quick to come to confirm but could do nothing that night. The next day one light was fixed but the one over the makeup up bench was unable to be fixed during our stay. The 1bed unit we stayed in was at the rear and as such we had to keep the bedroom and back sitting room windows closed and curtains drawn or we had no privacy from the street, also all other windows faced into the car park and other rooms so again for privacy we had to keep all windows closed and curtains drawn. This created a very claustrophobic atmosphere within the room and adding the poor lighting really made our stay unpleasant. The room safe is very old school requiring a safe key to utilise, this key is not automatically given to guests, you must separately ask for it from reception. The room is very run down with peeling paint a toilet seat that slips and slides all over the place, no air conditioning, a fridge that partially blocks the doorway to the bedroom. There is no power outlet in the ironing / make up room and the exhaust fan in the bathroom has been disconnected instead of being repaired/replaced. The shower screen door edge strip is loose and comes away and sorry, but the floors were in no way clean. We have stayed in the past but whereas this place used to rate 4 stars I could not see it rating anywhere above 2 stars now. A major revamp is urgently needed to address the wear and tear issues and to bring this place up to modern standards. Yes, this hotel is very quaint and has character overload but the run-down state of this place needs to be addressed sooner...
Read moreChecked in here following a 20hr stint nonstop from Auckland . Check-in was disgusting, as work had booked for me was under bosses name with very clear indication on booking print out it was for myself. Was told, and i quote “there will be no charge backs or anything like that” with a non humour filled female. Hot water ran out after 2-3 minutes. Called reception , she invited herself in the room to check the hot water cylinder was turned on . It was. Told me to call back in few hours if it hadnt sorted itself (i was ready for sleep within the first 5 minutes given the lengthly journey.... had to check out at 1am to make it to picton ferry , whopps my colleague left our UE speaker in the room and we left the key in there also as we were leaving . THIS IS WHERE THINGS GOT RIDICULOUS!!!! Called reception which was answered with a “hello” from the asian owner/ manager , i explained the situation and he replied saying there was only 1 key to the room and there was nothing he could do to let us back in.... i replied saying that didnt make sense and after pleading with him he asked me to go to reception . Asked for ID which was different to the person who made the booking(my boss) and told we must be trying to steal stuff and hes not going to let us in... i ended up having to phone 111 for police assistance as he became extremely agitated and insulting us using assumptions we were robbers ( at 1am in the morning , clearly explaining what we needed to retrieve and where???) basically the worse hospitality i have ever experienced in my 30years on this planet . I advise strongly against staying here . It was absolutely horrible. Thankfully police ensured we got our stuff and we made our ferry on time. Never...
Read moreUnfortunately the pictures didn't do the room we had, room 745 justice Walk through the door and the very strong smell of Bleech, smacks you in the face Our couch was held up by a piece of ply board and the cushions on the couch were old so I use them to sit on as the couch was so hard. I spent more time sitting on the floor, as that was more comfortable.
The shower up stairs doesn't have a door so water everywhere making the floor very slippery when getting out The shower over bath still has a shower curtain And toilet is right next to the heated towel rail, so if you turn that on prepare to burn your leg unless you sit slightly to the right of the toilet
Not enough power supply options around beds Let's face it every body has phones and tablets watches that need charging.
Very old looking rooms and needs alot of work to bring it into the modern world. We did contemplate finding another motel/hotel but I didn't want to loose the money we had paid for this place.
My only positives were the beds were comfy, and the service on check in and out was friendly And the place in general is...
