Greenmeadows on Gloucester Napier - Bed and Breakfast NZ||||We booked direct as we had been advised that booking would be cheaper than going through sites such as Booking.com as they take commission and that the motel owners would give discounts. Not Here, they charged $5 more than the Booking.com price. ||||We were not shown any of the facilities in the room. The unit was clean as was the bathroom. However, you could smell the cooking (or take away) from the adjacent room and you could have joined in the conversation with the next room's occupants. We whispered. ||||It took us a while to find the "kitchen" facilities. These were in a wardrobe and only a microwave, kettle, fridge and crockery. ||||No milk was offered, nor was there the Breakfast we expected. We were told that the Supermarket was close and that they had a cafe. For 20 years we have stayed in motels in New Zealand from Kaitia to Te Anau and have always been offered either a carton or jug of milk. ||||There is a Rule Book of Dos and Don'ts. Never have we seen such an extensive list, not did the list give leeway for any accidents. Every rule seemed to have a charge against it. Felt like we were at School.||||There was a plastic bag with something white inside beside the bed , but we did not look as it said it was the property of Greenmeadows. ||||The only heating is an oil filled electric radiator, which gives little heat. There was not an electric blanket on the bed and we were cold overnight. The ear plugs were not used as they irritate my ears and so the road noise was intrusive. Parking is limited and difficult to manoeuvre.||||Getting in and out of the property from the main road is almost impossible at peak times. ||||We only saw the owner once and she was busy in her office/cum sitting room.||||All in all we were pleased to move elsewhere in Napier. ||||Not up to the standard we are used to for the...
Read moreGreen Meadows is in a perfect location for access to all the "Cycle Trails From Napier" listed in their brochure which we (4 keen and experienced e bike riders) enjoyed biking over a 5 day period. ||Our apartment was beautifully clean with a very functional kitchen with heaps of crockery provided meaning we could use the dishwasher economically . The shower was magnificent and Wayne, the "bike guy", was super helpful in fixing a defective mirror.||Given that we arrived in what Met Service referred to as a Polar Blast, we were stunned to be told "I'm not cold!" when we asked Jenne for another heater which was begrudgingly given. Meantime the original heater connection sparked and flashed every time we tried to plug it in so was unusable.||The 2 MeloYelo electric bikes were perfect, but the two Avanti e bikes ran out of battery after 50km on day three. We were met with a very defensive reaction when we complained about having to bike 10km in a fierce head wind with no power, but were given (at our request) two spare batteries for our next longish ride.||When we went to turn on our electric blankets there were none in evidence but eventually we found controls "hidden" at arms length under the mattresses. An uncharitable person would be forgiven for thinking that the owner was penny pinching on electricity!||We had a wonderful 5 days cycle trip in the Napier region somewhat spoilt by the prickly customer service at Green Meadows which was very sad given that this "double business" has everything...

I emailed them to cancel my booking and don’t charge because of the reason I written up however they take money from my credit card in full amount.
