This an ex elderly care home which we didn’t know prior to finding our room. Arriving late, as travelling from Wellington we found our details & key as arranged but the letter enclosed didn’t have correct information which wasn’t helpful. No information in our room about the facilities, no milk in the fridge, a tv that was hopeless, 2 standard single beds in a single size room, wardrobe without any hangers, no drawers, leaky sink / tap onto the only surface to put things in the bathroom, filthy mirror..... the walls are very thin & the floor was so noisy even creeping around we felt guilty for disturbing the people downstairs. There’s a coke machine in the bottom stairwell that sounds like a jet engine! After disturbing the staff looking for milk for a well overdue cuppa on arrival we were told there was some ‘made up’ in the communal kitchen downstairs. Our room was generally clean but in the morning the common areas smelt like an old retirement home; yes I’ve been in plenty! There is no sound proofing between floors or walls, the floor boards creak from the rooms above, if you are unlucky enough to be put in the downstairs room in the left hand corner of the building. The bathrooms were a giveaway to the buildings previous life, walk in showers but the shower heads are strong and before you know it bathroom is flooded, making it a very unpleasant experience. After complaining about my room, I was moved to another room, right opposite the communal kitchen. The room had no sound proofing between the walls and I could hear the people next door. All in all an.unpleasant experience, although the people in charge were friendly and helpful, I would never stay there again, nor recommend it to anyone...
Read moreWe stayed here a couple of weeks ago. I think its emergency housing. First night we arrived there were about a dozen people outside having drinks, listening to music. Unfortunately they brought the party inside and were yelling and whatnot in the kitchen until early hours of the morning. The second night, again there were people outside having drinks, listening to music, brought it inside and someone ended up having domestics in the hallway at 2.30am. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. But the walls...
