Lady Bowen Bed and Breakfast — Hotel in North Island

This was such a wonderful find. Beautiful historic building, simply decorated and amazingly clean and tidy for its age. Hosts were so friendly and gave lots of helpful suggestions for how to spend our time in Thames.

Included a really lavish cooked breakfast - Wow! Pool table was in excellent condition and we had a great time playing pool. Beautiful garden which we didn’t use because it was raining but I think many guests would enjoy a morning coffee or sitting outside in the garden for dinner. Super comfortable twin beds. Secure bike storage which we made use of. So impressed, highly recommend and we will definitely be staying there next time we head...

The Lady Bowen is the most beautiful, historic B&B - located in the old gold-mining town of Thames - with heaps to see and do in the area.

The rooms are immaculately clean, with crisp, fresh linens and a lovely atmosphere. I slept like a baby and woke up refreshed and ready to go!

The guest areas are lovely for chilling out, relaxing with a book, watching TV, playing games or even soaking up some sunshine.

Hotel is a very beautiful and one of the oldest buildings in New Zealand. Was told brief history of it when checking in. The building has a great 19th century style and it's a pleasure to stay there, not only in your room but in the kitchen, garden, play/reading room (books, pool, chess etc.) or the big balcony in front where you can sit with a drink and relax. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect. Very quiet area near the Victoria Park and coastal walkway but also short walk from a busy city center. Breakfast was great with a variety of food to choose from. Cannot imagine staying anywhere else...
