⭐ Very Disappointing Experience – Avoid for Group Bookings

We booked Ahuriri Motels a year in advance for a charity bike ride, securing accommodation for a group of 24. At their request, we canceled our Booking.com reservation and booked directly—months in advance. We confirmed multiple times, including a phone call and email just five days before arrival.

Then, the night before we arrived, we received an email saying our booking had been canceled. No prior warning, no explanation. We were left scrambling for last-minute alternatives, which was incredibly stressful for our group.

To their credit, they refunded what was paid and made a few phone calls to assist. However, it was clear they had washed their hands of the issue rather than taking real responsibility.

Stayed for three nights for the fishing in the area. I have stayed at a lot of motels but the way the rooms where designed here was great. They had the bathrooms and kitchen central in the unit, so you don't hear the next door neighbour crashing and banging against the wall. That means a lot for me, as there have been some terrible places I have stayed. Bathroom facilities were good, nice shower.
