Overall our 2 night stay was good. ||The Motel (room number10) was roomy but the Master bedroom was so small and the (small) double bed was far too big for the small space - oddly the second bedroom was the bigger and had 3 single beds - my guess it had been the Master but that it makes more income for the Moteliers, in that configuration - but this affects comfort so there goes one star.||The worst feature of our stay was the TV! |It was about 19 inch and totally dwarfed by the wall itself. Very hard to see from the couch with older eyes!||Shocked to see there was no SKY (Despite satellite dishes on the buildings) due to the fact there was a All Black test match during our stay - we had to make other plans to watch it but would have rather watched it in our Motel room rather than a noisy Pub! ||INTERNET - was strong with no problems, kitchen was good and well appointed.|The unit was clean and tidy.||The moteliers were pleasant enough as they went about...
Read moreGot caught in the Canterbury floods, lost other accomodation booking as were stuck, spent 10 hours on roads being diverted in different directions. Arrived in Methven bedraggled and frazzled looking for a last minute manger - rocked up to Methven Motel - owners were so lovely! Offered us a discounted room, cranked up the heat pump, explained that area on a boil water notice due to unprecedented flooding & gave us water and milk. Wifi worked fab so could apologise for missed meetings and change in plans. Owner gave clear directions and a map on how to exit Ashburton on the one bridge out open until 10am in the morning, said get there early as everyone will be trying to exit. We got on the road again thanks to Methven Motel! Some great grounded Kiwi hospitality right there - heartfelt thankyou, very grateful...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived Lesley and Warren were so warm and welcoming. We stayed in their new Adults Retreat, separate accommodation just around the corner from the motel. It was home away from home. Having everything and more than we needed. The Retreat was very comfortable so if we didn't want to go out in an evening we could cook up a meal in the well equipped kitchen and just relax in the lounge. It was our 28th Wedding Anniversary the day we arrived, so it was a very nice touch to find two small bottles of bubbles in the fridge when we arrived -Thank you. We just loved our stay here, it's in a great location as well and we could easily walk into town to enjoy the good selection of cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. We would definitely stay here again and hope to be back next year for another...
