Methven Lodge & BnB — Hotel in South Island

My bf & I booked this place as it was affordable and included breaky. It exceeded all expectations. The rooms are big & very clean. The common area is spacious with fireplace & full kitchen to do all your own cooking if you want. Courtyard with a spa which is amazing to hop into after a day snowboarding/skiing.||The owners Bert & Lindy were really the highlight for us. Friendly & down to earth. With lots of local knowledge. We miss them! And their dog Luka.||Nothing is a hassle including Lindy running home from the gym to let us in when we locked ourselves out....again. Haha sorry! Although I’d recommend just keeping your keys on you as you might not get as lucky as us. We somehow managed to score the place to ourselves for about 4 nights but we wouldn’t have minded if we hadn’t as socialising in the common room by the fire with other guests is really nice especially with Bert & Lindys home brewed beer as a bonus! ||Fresh juice & home made bread in the mornings, stunning back drop of Mount Hutt out the windows. Methven the town itself is so quaint we loved it there. Bert & Lindy really are the best hosts and they have created a wonderful lodge with a relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Our group of six stayed here on a ski trip to Mt Hutt last year and loved every second of it. Bert and Lindy are incredible hosts and will ensure your time here is a great one. Right from the start they were warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home. They gave us lots of great tips for where to eat around town, and even let us play with their adorable dog. Breakfast was plentiful, making sure we had enough to start the day well.||The accomodation itself is all that you need for a trip like this. The beds were comfy and the common room is a lovely place to hang out with friends around the fireplace while the snow falls outside. It’s only a short walk from the ski centre and gear hire outlets too.||This is the place you need to stay next time...

Just returned from 6 days at Methven Lodge & B&B. We booked based on recommendation from a family who had stayed a few years ago and we weren't disappointed - Lindy and Bert are the most charming, friendly hosts and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The large lounge/dining area was perfect for socialising with the other guests or for just hanging out with the family after a dip in the spa.
