Day 1

Chapter 1 the town

This towns local architectecture needs to be improved. Firstly the bins look like theyve been run over. Then we discovered the street lights wearing pirate hats. The benches look like cheese grators.

Chapter 2 the pub

First of all we couldn't sleep because of loud karaoke. Then there was a pirate lamp outside our window blinding us. So we closed the blinds and turned on the small lights. Then i tried to move it and it was scolding i almost lost a finger. I was in seriouse pain when i discovered the bedside cabinet. It was HORRENDOUS it almost ended up outside. Finally we tried to get some shut eye when we discovered there was a window the size of an elephant above the door. We had to make a makeshift curtain out of a sheet to block out the harmfull rays.

Overall an amazing experience 10/10 would recommend other than the minor issues.

Look out for future updates day...

Horrible experience. Price paid does not reflect the room quality, which s in desperate need of renovation. Booked a room for 3 nights last week and had to leave after the first night. There is a panel heater which did was turned on, however, did not improve the extreme cold temperature of the room. I was left sick with the cold the following morning, and had to move to a different accommodation, and could not go skiing at all. Housekeeping arrived at 9am and was busy chatting, not as if they are doing any work at all. The floor was dirty and sticky (need repolishing), the bed was sunken in the middle like a quicksand, and pillow smelled like feet, which had to be placed on the floor due to the offensive odour. The only good thing about the place is the small sink in the room, which is a positive for shared bathroom hostels as this. Do not recommend this place at...

Great location for a nice stop on the way and it’s ideal that’s you can grab some food as well. They have clean but shared amenities.

Sadly enough it’s very noisy and if you happen to have a room with a sky light you keep turning off the hall lights! We stayed here on a Wednesday evening thinking the noise would be done around 9.30pm when the pub is closed. Sadly enough we had a very rowdy crew of old drunks hanging about and talking loudly. Some stayed over and continued upstairs which did ruin our sleep. There’s also a swing door downstairs that gets used so frequently and is so loud that even all the neighbors would be kept awake. Would not recommend booking it if you like your quiet...

Sunday drive from Christchurch for a bite to eat. Not a great experience. Food was terrible. Just ordered bar snacks but couldn't finish due to it being so salty. Ordered I think it was called the bar basket or something like that. Had hardly nothing in it. Picture added is what came in it. They had salted it for me instead of me salting my own food. It was uneatable. Sausage was disgusting. Would not recommend this plate to anyone. No paper towels on the table or cutlery, plates were out down without a comment from staff. Left 90% on the plate and left. Also premix coke was flat. 😞

Really comfy place to stay while spending time at Mt Hutt. Location is smack bang in the middle of the town and everything you need is just meters away including the pickup/drop-off for the Ski Bus. The room is more than adequate, the shared facilities are regularly cleaned and the water pressure was a nice surprise. The staff downstairs were very helpful, friendly and great to ask for local pointers and advice. For the money, I have to give 5 stars.

Excellent value for money to spend the night. The rooms and rest of the place (shared amenities) were clean, except for some spider rag high up in the curtains. The bed is not the best but will do for one night. The staff is very friendly and the pub serves decent food for a fair price, though the drinks might be a little expensive (as seems to be more and more the issue in New Zealand).
