Ming's Lakeside Goldleaf Suites — Hotel in South Island

My friend and I had an overall great and comfortable stay. The view from the communal quarters are spectacular, well worth the short drive into town. Mingwei (aka Bruce), the host, also went above and beyond — my flight was cancelled which left my friend without rental car or ability to go into town, and Mingwei helped her settle in, get snacks, and give her insights about town until I could arrive. So very kind! Two notes: It wasn’t clear to us upon booking, but do note at least one of the rooms has a shared bathroom. Our bathroom was down the hall (which faced communal quarters), with a washer and dryer that others were using. Second, which is a very minor issue, there was no trash can in the kitchen and trash was piling up in boxes. Minor in grand scheme of things though and the accommodation is still great for the price...

It was advertised as hotel but end up BnB. This is the worst BnB I have stayed. There is no fresh towel or cleaning service daily. We practically need to ask Bruce to do so. The furniture is run down and dirty. The lights in the toilet are flickering and during the night the heater was making loud noises that force me to turn off the heater. There are soo many rules in the room. We practically need to clean our rubbishes daily and if we leave it we would get charge $20. The washing machine and dryer were running all night long. The people living upstairs were noisy. I personally think the reviews in the website are fake and there is no way people will be happy...

I recently had a fantastic stay at this hotel and highly recommend it! The room was spacious and comfortable with all the necessary amenities, and the bed was especially cozy. The butler, Bruce, was incredibly friendly and professional, making the stay very pleasant. The location is convenient, close to major attractions and transport hubs. The breakfast, though simple, was varied, and Bruce even made hand-brewed coffee in the morning. Overall, the experience exceeded my expectations and offered great value for money. I’ll definitely stay here again on my next visit to this city!...
