The Coast Motel — Hotel in South Island

Stayed two nights ... a bit dated 3 star (max) (60's set up).Very old unit (2 bedroom 3 beds with master bed being two single beds joined together which gave me a sore back as i in the middle of the bed sleeper. Didn't discover this until we were leaving and stripped the bed for the cleaner). Unit in need of attention but priced accordingly (im guessing could be cold in the winter).Bathroom has no ventilation to take away the steam other than an opening window which would be no good on a very cold morning ... Shower is over the bath with a plastic type clingy curtain to stop the water from getting on the floor.Water overflow from the shower runs down the walls and onto the sill of the window (will start rotting soon underneath,if not already) .... kitchen, tidy and has all one needs including a good size oven for those wishing to cook. A seat and table on the small landing and i must say the sun streams into the unit on a bright day. A nice view of part of the town. Wifi was a bit hit and miss. Good location if one is wanting beach or closeness to town.Bus stops also near. Host extremely helpful and pleasant .. sorry no pics as we were there for business and not...

A great place to stay. If you have pets. With you why traveling.

I was looking for pet friendly accommodation in Timaru. That would allow my Cat to roam in the unit. Instead of being locked up in his cage for 2 days.

And The Coast Motel was very accommodating with my cat.

And the owners was very friendly, helpful and considerate of my needs. I got in later than expected during the night. And I found the heater on in the room and the electric blanket on for the bed. So. I arrived to a very nice warm room and a welcoming place to stay for 2 days with lovely and professional owners.

Clean, warm, friendly. Absolutely loved coming in to towels and cloths laid nicely on the bed with individual soaps so I didn't have to deal with refill bottles that other people had used. Had everything I could need to stay longer, you are able to cook a meal as they have items in their kitchen to use, which is very welcomed while traveling. Unexpected but happy they had a Washing machine in the unit and washing powder which i think is above and beyond. Staff were friendly and accommodating for late check in. Nothing I can fault them on. Only one suggestion is they could email people not from the area the receipt...
