Harbour View Motel Timaru — Hotel in South Island

While the staff were very friendly, the view was awful. It is advertised as a harbour view. This consists of a view of the dunes and the container wharf. There was only the tinest speck of water visible. Certainly not what I would call a harbour view. I think this is definitely a case of false advertising. The room was dark and had an unusual smell. Wow! Harbor View motel is in a great location. Just a short walk to town and to Caroline Bay. Whilst it is on the main road the room we had was very quiet. On arrival it presents as immaculate and modern. The rooms are spotless and very well set up. The beds very comfortable with extra blankets provided for colder months. The place and room was very clean and well presented as was the outside of the motel. Handy location and didn't have issues with road noise.

The TV didn't work well, very delayed with changing channels and it was lagging. But given we didn't spend much time in the room it wasn't a big deal.

There was a very unpleasant smell in the reception area however which wasn't the beat first impression.
