This morning we dined here for breakfast. I thought I was ordering a very basic fool proof meal that you couldn’t go wrong with but it appears I was wrong. I ordered the bacon and eggs which came with “toasted” bread. I also ordered a side of avocado. The waitress served me my food and when I looked at the plate it was covered in water which I assume was from the poached eggs being flung onto the plate out of water. The bacon was under cooked and sitting in water also from the eggs. There was a bit of bread on top of the bacon which was not toasted in the slightest. I don’t really know how you can genuinely serve someone that when they are paying $25 for it. I didn’t want to cause a scene and after saying excuse me to a waitress walking past twice and being ignored I felt well I must just try and eat it. To be honest if the bread had been toasted and warm I probably would have just sucked it up. No one asked us how the meal was so we just paid and left and had to go elsewhere to find something to eat. I understand it’s Easter and maybe they were understaffed but you honestly cannot expect to serve someone soggy undercooked food. It seemed like the staff were more worried about hanging out with each other then focusing on serving properly cooked food. I think the food served in jail would have been better then what I was...

What bistro and restaurant serves 9 buck beef jerky off their menu in a retail bag? Hot chips weren't hot at all. Chicken snitz was mushy and the cold beans on the plate made it even more inedible. Gravy was brown water and flavorless. 30 min wait for drinks, followed an extra 20 min wait for food after. Vege stack is the most bland and overrated menu selection item. Half a cooked tomato, burnt mushroom and a bit of capsicum... a stack should be like a vege lasagna. Disappointed. Couldn't even get service at our table for more drinks. The girls were too busy on their phones. The chef enjoys the food a lot as he was having a good munch while we were eating. Hoping he enjoyed his HOT chips. Jalapeño poppers had hardly any jalapeños in them. Sad.
The beer was the best thing of this place even though it took ages. And the dude at the till needs a raise. Friendly as and accommodating. If you had his service through the whole place, geez it'll be a stunner. Unfortunately, not a place for me to go next time were down for south island Masters in timaru. Thoroughly...
Read moreStopped here for breakfast on Sunday morning following reading some positive reviews and being recommended by the cafe next door as the place for breakfast! Not full, but busy. We ordered an eggs benedict with bacon and, eggs on toast, but swapped out bacon for avocado. After chasing the order after several other guests who had arrived after us had received theirs, finally had ours delivered. Firstly, the eggs benedict... The eggs were solid, the 'free range' hollandaise was insipid and looked remarkably similar to mayonnaise. There were no greens and the soft bap was soggy... Looked like the meal had been forgotten and thrown together. The eggs on toast with Avo. Envisaging soft served poached eggs with slices of avo fanned on the plate garnished with some micro greens... what arrived could not have been further from that image. Soggy toast, hard eggs and puréed avocado from a jar or tube. Yuck. The service, apart from the delay in receiving our meal, was attentive and professional.
I do...
