⭐ 1 Star – Unsafe, Unprofessional, and Deeply Disrespectful
This was the worst hotel experience I've had in Pakistan. I’m a Brit who travels to Pakistan every few years when I can, just to visit our family in Lahore; it was myself, my mother and my sister who stayed here.
We booked 2 rooms in Oct 2025 for a 2 week stay but had to check out early due to serious concerns around safety, professionalism, and discriminatory behaviour which I will detail below.
Repeated Unauthorized Room Entry: Staff repeatedly tried to enter our rooms despite clear "Do Not Disturb" signage. One attempt occurred while I was asleep – it was only the door chain that stopped them from getting in. We also noticed signs of entry while we were out, with no cleaning performed, raising serious concerns about potential theft or misconduct.
Confrontational and Inappropriate Staff Behaviour: After an informal complaint, a housekeeper confronted my mother and I aggressively about the complaint we made, showing a complete lack of professionalism.
Negligent Complaint Handling: A separate complaint about expired powdered milk in room service tea received minimal apologies – the staff treat you like a nuisance! And likewise, a complaint about unauthorized access granted to a visitor was met with no action; the lack of basic security protocols was alarming. How can you just let someone into a guest's room with no proof they even know them?!
Frequent Power and AC Failures: Electricity outages were common and slow to resolve. On multiple occasions, I had to request technical support to restore power or fix the air conditioning – in Pakistan’s extreme heat!
Discriminatory and Sexist Treatment: By far the worst part of our stay (and the main factor in our decision to vacate the hotel early) was the staff’s baseless assumptions and accusations. Perhaps because I’m visibly foreign (I’m mixed race/ white) or perhaps simply because I’m a woman and they thought they could get away with it, I was accused of inappropriate (sexual) conduct for hosting male family members in my room. My cousins and I would often go out to explore the city in the evenings once they got free from work, and then we would sit and play board games in my room until the early hours of the morning. I haven’t seen them in 3 years, of course I will spend time with them in a room I have paid for! This baseless moral policing, rooted in sexist assumptions, led to unjust restrictions on family visits and deeply offensive insinuations.
Harassment and Invasion of Privacy: Staff repeatedly called to interrogate us about our visitors, demanded ID verification, and physically blocked family members from coming up to see us. Even after IDs were provided, guests were still stopped and questioned every time. It is absolutely absurd to me that even after IDs have been provided to prove an individual’s identity, you would still harass them on this issue.
In a meeting with the Operations Manager, he admitted to us that the hotel is struggling due to its ‘exclusionary’ policies and then made degrading comments about the type of guests they “don’t allow,” implying we were unwelcome. This shocking and degrading comment underscores the toxic culture at this establishment. I genuinely believe they hoped to scare us into paying them more money out of fear that we’d be reported to police for this supposed ‘inappropriate conduct’.
Bottom Line: this hotel is poorly managed, discriminatory, and unsafe for women traveling alone. There are far better options in the same price range that treat guests with dignity and respect. Avoid this place at all costs.

I recently stayed at Hotel Oban in Lahore, and it was a disaster from start to finish. Despite having stayed here before and giving it another chance, this visit was even worse than the first. Here’s why I will never come back:
Dirty and Unpressed Bedding: The cleanliness of the room was appalling. The bed sheets were not only dirty but also unpressed, giving the room a shabby appearance. To make matters worse, I found hairs on the sheets, which made me question whether they had been changed at all.
Breakfast Disaster: Breakfast was supposed to be a buffet starting at 7 AM, but nothing was ready on time. When we finally got something to eat, the promised buffet was nonexistent. Instead, we were given a very limited choice of an omelette, paratha, and chana. Even the juices provided were warm, not cold and refreshing as expected.
Poor Service and Unbearable Heat: The service was extremely poor. The staff seemed disinterested and slow to respond to any requests. The dining area was hot and uncomfortable to sit in because neither fans nor air conditioning were turned on. It made the entire meal experience unpleasant.
Broken Promises: Given my previous stay, I thought things might have improved, but unfortunately, they have only gotten worse. It’s disappointing to pay for services and amenities that are not delivered as promised.
In summary, my stay at Hotel Oban was nothing short of a nightmare. The lack of cleanliness, poor service, and broken promises have ensured that I will never return. I strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere for better value...
Read moreReview about OBAN Hotel Highly pathetic service of Oban. Around 3 weeks back I reserved seats for hi tea for my family including kids on call. Some female staff assured me that the table was booked by my name but hi tea service would be served on table rather than self service. I again asked if all the dishes mentioned on the menu would be available. She said yes. Upon reaching restaurant half hour before the given time a guy told that there was no hi tea available. When I asked that I confirmed booking a few hours ago, the same female staff rushed towards me n told that hi tea would be served, there was some misunderstanding.i again asked if it's not available she should tell me then so that I can decide whether to stay or leave.she said it is available. After 20 minutes then guy came and told us that the female staff who reassured me about hi tea had left for her lunch and the other staff is unaware of any hi tea, we should opt for ala carte. I enquired him that why that female staff committed with me. He said that he has no idea why she committed so and she's not available now. I left that place immediately. I have the proofs of their voice note saying that hi tea was available If u ppl can't entertain him tea why don't u tell the customers at first place rather than wasting our time, kindly train your staff the basics Won't ever...
