Palma Royale Hotel — Hotel in Bocas del Toro

This hotel is conveniently located on the main strip of the island. It is close to a lot of grocery stores, tours, restaurants, and water taxis that can take you anywhere you want. The rooms were outstanding. I had a one bedroom suite with a balcony overlooking the water. The water in the room was nice, having the option of hot or cold shower. The air conditioning was awesome, it had two units; one in the private room, the other one in the main area. They have a laundry service that was convenient, since you are busy doing so many tours, swimming, diving, etc., it is nice that they have this available; same day service or next day service, depending on when you turn in your laundry. They had a nice breakfast available at a restaurant down the street called, Buena Vista. Great food and excellent service. I went with a group of friends, there was 13 of us and we had a blast. Very nice hotel in a good location, but would not call it 4-star due to lack of amenities (no pool, fitness center, restaurant or anything). Also, communication before arrival was poor. My reservation said no deposit and cancel 7 days w/o fee and they charged half the rate to my card 3 weeks in advance. When I contacted them to question they charge they said it was because it was a holiday and then told me if I didn't confirm immediately that they would cancel my reservation. That message went to my spam so I never saw it before arrival. Luckily they still had a room for me when I arrived so I'm not sure why they were threatening to cancel my reservation. I had a two bedroom suite which was spacious and afforded much privacy with the door to one bedroom. Comfortable bed, plenty of storage space, tons of natural light, overhead ceiling fans and quiet AC worked very well Very pleasant front reception staff - Sasha and other woman on evening shift were very kind and professional even when dealing with snarky guests. good breakfast that's included with reasonable variety. Filtered water available on every floor to refill water bottles, in room coffee maker and refrigerator. ||Laundry service was not great; I still had sand in my clothes and they were folded but didn't appear or smell fresh. A room on the 3rd or fourth floor would provide a better view (I had a slice of ocean but mostly metal roofs), but for 2 nights, I was very happy with this...
