Great location in Bocas next to water taxi and other restaurants. Free breakfast with your stay. Opened in 1999 it has a nautical theme throughout and has one of the better restaurants with a bar that opens up to the street with four stools on the sidewalk. Rooms are generally clean, yet since it’s 25 years old it could use some updating. This is pour second stay, last year in the supreme suite on the top floor with its private balcony. This year we chose the room below it, still with a balcony, but it’s not private, it’s shared , but we didn’t need one king and three twin beds for the two of us. Between the two rooms we should have upgraded to the Supreme as it was much more open, and had the beautiful private balcony. Reception staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful with arranging taxi’s (and the fair price to pay them) or directions to other establishments. When we were there the city was in the middle of a large utility project with adding catch basins and drainage lines on each street. It was a little dusty but everyone made the best of it and the city will have new sidewalks when finished. Around town everyone was friendly and it had the tourist feel with barkers on the street trying to lure you on their excursion or restaurant, but they weren’t pushy. If we go out to Starfish beach and Del Drago another major renovation with sidewalks, paved roads and a designated bike lane is about half way finished. Lots to do in this area and would recommend if you like beaches, scuba, snorkeling, bat caves, and a chill,...
Read moreHad the double room (queen and twin) with balcony. Pictures look a lot nicer than the actual room but it you've been to Bocas before; it's a typical basic Bocas-looking hotel. Hardwood floors, decent beds, basic TV, old school safe, fridge, fairly large bathroom, great included drop coffee, a/c and lots of purified water down the hall. Balcony was nice to chill and watch the "lanchas" go back and forth. Included breakfast was decent; the breakfast pineapple drink was great. Even though folks say the hotel is away from the "noise and action" the restaurant/bar music right next door was fairly loud. We didn't need to use the included ear plugs as the music didn't go too late but I think the family room was above us and you could definitely hear the stomping above us. We walked from the airport to hotel and it took about 10 minutes. They held our things (in the lobby) since we arrived too early but gave us beach towels to go check out another island while we waited for check in. Many supermercados nearby and within a 5 minute walk to the center (if you can call it that) of Bocas (new dollar store (todo a dolar) in town LOL. Make sure you do as many "tours" or visit the islands as possible as the main point to be in Bocas is outside isla colon. You'll be very bored if you hang about town too...
