Great location in Bocas next to water taxi and other restaurants. Free breakfast with your stay. Opened in 1999 it has a nautical theme throughout and has one of the better restaurants with a bar that opens up to the street with four stools on the sidewalk. Rooms are generally clean, yet since it’s 25 years old it could use some updating. This is pour second stay, last year in the supreme suite on the top floor with its private balcony. This year we chose the room below it, still with a balcony, but it’s not private, it’s shared , but we didn’t need one king and three twin beds for the two of us. Between the two rooms we should have upgraded to the Supreme as it was much more open, and had the beautiful private balcony. Reception staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful with arranging taxi’s (and the fair price to pay them) or directions to other establishments. When we were there the city was in the middle of a large utility project with adding catch basins and drainage lines on each street. It was a little dusty but everyone made the best of it and the city will have new sidewalks when finished. Around town everyone was friendly and it had the tourist feel with barkers on the street trying to lure you on their excursion or restaurant, but they weren’t pushy. If we go out to Starfish beach and Del Drago another major renovation with sidewalks, paved roads and a designated bike lane is about half way finished. Lots to do in this area and would recommend if you like beaches, scuba, snorkeling, bat caves, and a chill,...

Had the double room (queen and twin) with balcony. Pictures look a lot nicer than the actual room but it you've been to Bocas before; it's a typical basic Bocas-looking hotel. Hardwood floors, decent beds, basic TV, old school safe, fridge, fairly large bathroom, great included drop coffee, a/c and lots of purified water down the hall. Balcony was nice to chill and watch the "lanchas" go back and forth. Included breakfast was decent; the breakfast pineapple drink was great. Even though folks say the hotel is away from the "noise and action" the restaurant/bar music right next door was fairly loud. We didn't need to use the included ear plugs as the music didn't go too late but I think the family room was above us and you could definitely hear the stomping above us. We walked from the airport to hotel and it took about 10 minutes. They held our things (in the lobby) since we arrived too early but gave us beach towels to go check out another island while we waited for check in. Many supermercados nearby and within a 5 minute walk to the center (if you can call it that) of Bocas (new dollar store (todo a dolar) in town LOL. Make sure you do as many "tours" or visit the islands as possible as the main point to be in Bocas is outside isla colon. You'll be very bored if you hang about town too...

I believe that me staying at HOTEL BOCAS DEL TORO for the 14th time in 12 years speaks for itself. |But, there is much to say about my second home away from the USA. This year I stayed 9 1/2 weeks. I have a lovely room that has a balcony over the beautiful ocean. When I arrive they always have very special things for me in my room that truly make it feel like home. The hotel provides a delicious breakfast with your reservation, with many options.|You will not find better staff, Yaci, Deni, Maria, and Illiana, and the owner, Carla than at my hotel. They truly are my family.||They will go the extra mile to help you in any way they can. I have been ill while staying, and they will make sure I have special medications, and make me soup, and ginger tea. Just like being at home!! ||The hotel is very charming with only 11 rooms, and have many options for how many guests are able to stay in a room. ||Without a doubt this is the finest hotel in all of Bocas, and centrally located at the heart of the village for restaurants, shops etc. ||As an added note, Bocas that has been written up by Conde Nast Traveler twice in 10 years, including National Geographic, which...

We felt so welcome here. The best staff- Yacira, Luis, Tachara, and Denilka were amazing as was housekeeping. The restaurant was so good we didn’t even look for another place. So convenient right next to the water taxi, super fun live music at night (but also ear plugs in your room if needed). 2 for 1 happy hour on select beverages. It was all great but my favorite parts were that they were so friendly and welcoming, AND that they have a commitment to sustainability, have been recognized by Nat Geo for their stewardship and commitment. Also listed as a “must stay” in Conde Nast Traveler.

This review is from a stay in 2008 so as long as it's the same hotel in the same shape - it's great. It's quite and right on the water with amazing views from your room. The only noise you really hear is water taxis running around but no big deal. Great location and within walking distance of shop's and restaurants in the area. Tours to red frog beach and other places are near by as well. The hotel is also less than 5 minutes from the airport and there's taxi service to and from whenever you need it.
