The Hostal Revash is located right on the Plaza de Armas in Chachapoyas. It couldn't be more centrally located. The building is a 300 year old former home of some wealthy Spaniard and is architecturally interesting in its own right. My room was spacious and well appointed. It even had a small refrigerator. The infrastructure could have used some help. Although I had hot water for a shower, it must be in short supply because my room had a sign asking guests to be thrifty with their use of hot water and strictly forbidding doing any laundry. There were two lights over the bathroom mirror. One was broken and had no bulb and the other was just a bare compact florescent bulb. The wood floor had two large chunks missing right about where you'd step on the floor getting out of bed. The room was clean and room service was good. They serve breakfast but that's not included with the room but is an extra charge. They will arrange tours and change money. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful. They never failed to spot me coming through the front door and meeting me in the courtyard with my room key. (The room key is attached to a big wooden carving and you leave the key at the desk when you leave the hotel.) Not perfect, but really very good. ...
Read moreMy daughter and I stayed here for three nights. Chachapoyas is lovely and a great starting point for some beautiful, rugged countryside and historic sites. The hotel is very attractive, with rooms surrounding a big courtyard with beautiful flowers and greenery.||||The room was basic, but adequate. On arrival, we were told we could come down for breakfast on the premises next morning. When we turned up in the morning, we were told breakfast was not available during our stay. The family had no consideration for people in surrounding rooms. Luckily, they moved out next day. Unfortunately, a family which must have won Peru's Noisiest Families competition moved in. Then they locked themselves out of their room and the management had to dismantle the door lock to let them back in.||||We'd stay here again, but we'd try to ensure a quieter corner...

The answers the lady at reception gives to clients shows that she doesn't care about the customer, only money. You can decide to change of hostel and she won't care at all. We complained about a huge water leakage in the bathroom but she will not make an effort to fix it, change our room or anything. "you can go to another place if you don't like it" she said. And she said she had an available room, but it was more expensive, so it was beyond her thoughts to change us to that room just for customer satisfaction (?). She just didn't care and her way to answer left a lot to desire...
