After nine years I came back to Iquitos for a week vacation. It was the third time that I stayed at Hospedaje Las Golondrinas. It feels like a home, clean, safe, and always welcomed by Rosita (the owner) and Elbert (her right hand). They are so friendly and caring. We enjoyed the pool so much. It is rear to find a pool in a hostel that it is why I always come back to Las Golondrinas. Likewise, this place is so convenient because of its walkable location to the main square, pharmacies, restaurants, the boulevard, banks, laundry, supermarkets, convenient stores, and fresh markets. We walked most of the time. We highly recommend it! Also, my friend and I booked one of their 3d/2n tours by Jungle Wolf Expedition. It was so amazing and exciting. Thanks to our tour guide David and all the staff who care for us and make our delicious meals based with local ingredients. Rosita you are the best! You have a great staff and everything was well organized and punctual. You made my friend’s dream came true. She always wanted to visit Iquitos, the jungle and to see the stunning and impressive Amazon River. Thank you...
Read moreI've spent 3 weeks in Hospedaje Golondrinas in July 2018, and I couldn't wish for a better place. Rosa, the owner runs the hostal with the help of Hebert, who speaks well English. They are always welcoming and happy to have a chat in Spanish or English. As I was working during my stay, for me it was crucial to feel safe not only myself, but my valuable stuff as well. You can enter to the hostal only after ringing a bell so that someone comes and opens the door for you. This is a good way of controlling people. It's a quite small place having only a couple of rooms, so you have chance to get to know people better. There is a nicely equipped kitchen and a pool where you can refresh yourself. The wifi is quite weak, but I hardly found better one in the entire city. I can absolutely recommend this place!||||Thank you Rosa and Hebert for your kindness, you made my stay in Iquitos a great experience. I hope I can return in the near future (: ||||Muchas gracias Rosa y Hebert por todo tu apoyo y amistad! Espero que pueda volver en el futuro cercano.(: Mis mejores deseos! Un abrazo fuerte,...
Read moreAlthough the hostel itself is ok for the price, I was really put off by the owner’s behavior toward me. She seems to be a somewhat bitter old lady, I don’t know her life story but whenever I tried to smile at her she looked at me in a very weird, not nice way. She doesn’t seem happy that guests us the officially public kitchen (she said “most people just make coffee it so I don’t mind. But YOU do cook”…), which is not ok in an hostel. Yet another exemple: there’s a huge jar of filtered water on the counter, without any sign on it, and we saw other guests use it sometimes. When she saw us do it though, she told us not to as things are getting more expensive. I told her to put a sign there, took my bags as i was checking out anyway, and left. It’s not because she’s an elderly lady that you have to put up with her bad moods. Wouldnt recommend unless...
