I was going to skip Máncora altogether due to its party reputation, but instead got stuck in this super chill, family-vibe hostel for almost a week!! I felt at home even though it was low season and perhaps not as busy. |Sure there’s no pool, or hot water/water pressure like some of the others nearby, but what this place lacked in water it made up in intimate family vibes, friendly faces and a perfect chill atmosphere to come back to in case you wanted a party in Loki just opposite. |- I arrived at 5am in the morning, when it was still dark and ridiculous, but I was allowed to sleep in the hammock until check in as beds weren’t ready yet, and offered breakfast a couple hours later as the sun began to rise|- The owners were instantly warm and inviting; a gorgeous Chileno-Peruvian couple with a little one on the way. Josefa felt like someone I had known for my whole life and spoke impeccably good English. The staff were just as amazing and helped practise my Spanish. I even got a haircut for only 15 soles by the amazing Italian staff member who cooked a mean pasta and also worked London Fashion Week with Toni + Guy... I’m sold! |- The staff/hostal family lunches were so lovely. At around 5 soles per person we would enjoy a home cooked meal together and really feel part of the family. Sometimes I feel staff can be clique-y and stick to themselves, but these lot lure you in with a warm embrace, making it difficult to leave! I kept extending and putting off my bus to Ecuador. I actually said I was leaving at one point, only to walk outside and come back! |- On the subject of food, the kitchen is well equipped and I would often go to the market place for cheap ingredients and make a meal 2-3x a day. Breakfast included is fresh fruit smoothie, bread and coffee, so I would make my own porridge to boot. |- The place is spacious and always spotless. I didn’t feel any area was dirty or needed a clean. Though the place as a whole seems small, the rooms are spacious and the rest of the hostel is a big, intimate, common area with hammocks, place to sit and chill, a huge TV for movie nights and right opposite Loki so you can party all night and sleep here in peace. |- Laundry is next door at 5 soles a kilo. Location is the best; bang in the centre and around all the amazing restaurants|- Wifi was pretty reliable throughout. No complaints. |- Beds are comfy. Sadly no full length mirrors. |- Ample space for my workouts |- As a solo traveller during low season, I was worried that there weren’t a lot of people here. Didn’t even matter as the staff and the handful of guests that were here all become family, which sure beats a 100 bed party hostel which is impersonal and loud. ||LOVE THIS PLACE! Please can I come back to work here during peak season?? (When I’m fluent in...
