Disclaimer: We stayed in the hotel during the flooding in late March 2017. The city was struggling, so the hotel didn't have all their normal resources. The internet and cable TV did not work for quite a while. Mostly was due to the flooding, but we know other places had working internet when our hotel didn't.||||The hotel was clean and the receptionists and janitorial staff were very friendly and helpful. When they cleaned our room they did a wonderful job and treated our personal objects with respect. Nothing was ever stolen or misplaced. The bathroom was pretty small, and there was no rug on the floor. The air conditioning worked great, which was very helpful. The pool was closed most of the time, but we believe that was due to the dust in the air as a result of the flooding.||||The kitchen staff was not as friendly. Luis, a waiter was great and always trying to please us. He worked hard to make sure we had everything we needed. The other waiter was the opposite. He acted like it was a chore when we ordered our food and did nothing to try to accommodate my friend, who is a vegetarian. The food takes a really long time to prepare. We often had to wait 30-45 minutes for our food, even though we were the only ones in the restaurant. They do provide room service at no extra charge, which was really nice. ||||Overall, it was an okay hotel. Hopefully when there isn't a natural disaster going on things are more organized and the wait staff isn't as grumpy....
Read moreI stayed in Hotel Paraiso for four nights while in Trujillo. The hotel has a large lobby and restaurant on the first floor. The room was on the 3rd floor and although there was an elevator it was an easy walk up too. There was a sitting area on each floor and it was a nice place to gather with our group. The room had two double beds, and came with heavy blankets which was nice as it was cool in the room. We were unable to turn off the AC which while on low still made the room cool. To be fair we did not ask for assistance with it either. There was a safe in the room and a small fridge. The room had two bath towels and as I wanted at least hand towels, I asked for more and they were provided promptly and without difficulty. The room while basic was very clean. My only criticism was that our room only had one small window which looked across at another building. I was in another room facing the street which had much better light in the room. Everything I asked for was responded too with a smile so service I felt was excellent. Wifi was available but was very weak in the room. When I went into the common area, however the signal was stronger and I was able to Skype. Our room came with breakfast. Again the staff was cooperative and gave our group an early breakfast one morning. Breakfast was fruits, breads, cereal, and a hot dish. There was help with baggage and everyone was pleasant. I would definitely...
Read moreI stayed two nights at the Paraíso Hotel, a 3-star establishment by Peruvian standards and a 2-star place by American standards. It seemed that there were only several guests at the hotel, which was fine with me. ||||The hotel Paraíso offered free WiFi throughout, and it worked quite well. Located adjacent to the terrace, it had a very small swimming pool that had not one drop of water in it, despite the fact that I was there in mid-summer. ||||My single room on the 5th floor was furnished with a double bed, a nice writing desk and chair, a flat screen TV, and a nice bench to place my small suitcase. The bathroom, although quite small, was adequate: shower, commode, sink.||||I ate two breakfasts and two dinners in the hotel’s simple restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.||||This was my type of hotel: simple, clean, safe and inexpensive. A real plus: the hotel was super quiet so I slept...
