Great experience. Dario and his partner Giovanna work hard and go the extra mile to allow guests to get a taste (a refined taste) of life on a floating island. We stayed one night only, but they were so kind to answer our many, many questions, explained how the islands were built, moved, maintained, and even the adaptations to make a visit more tourist-friendly. Despite it being rainy season, the afternoon was sunny and beautiful, our two sons were able to play, kicking a ball around. Dario even kindly rescued the ball when my youngest kicked it into the deep waters surrounding the island. Dario and Giovanna provided us with some of the native Uro clothing for photos, Dario took us for a quick ride in the boat made of Tortora, and harvested a few pieces of the papyrus and let us sample the flavor a bit (tastes a bit like celery). We came with layers on top of layers, but ended up being warm enough with a single layer of clothing, given the coziness of the cabin and all the warm blankets. Giovanna brought us a couple of hot water bottles, complete with cute llama covers to insulate the warmth and prevent us from burns from the heat.
