The visit to this hotel was one of the worst experiences. We rented a room with a hot tub and on the first day we felt a very unpleasant smell coming from the tub pipes. We informed the hotel staff about it, who promised that everything would be fixed by the time we returned from the trip. After a hard all-day trek to Machu Picchu, we returned to the hotel thinking about taking a warm bath, unfortunately, the hot water was not even coming out of the tap, and the unpleasant smell was still coming out of the pipes. After informing the hotel staff about this, the gentleman at the reception told us that we had to wait 15/20 minutes for hot water because other rooms were using the tub, and it was the middle of the night and there was no water until the morning. The next day we informed the hotel staff again about our problems and finally a nice gentleman named Joshua took an interest in us and changed our room to a clean one with access to water. Hot water appeared over time, but it is clear that the hotel has a problem with its current access. We stayed in the hotel for 7 days, the first 3 were a struggle to change rooms and have hot water, and the next 4 were constant requests to clean the room and change towels, which we had to remind them about every day, and despite our requests, we returned to a dirty room without toilet paper and with wet towels that were not able to dry due to the low temperature in the room. There were fan heaters in the rooms, but one fan heater for such a large room unfortunately did not work at the temperatures that prevail in Cusco. We will definitely not return to this hotel and we will not recommend it to anyone because the staff regularly ignored our requests and complaints, except for one Mr. Joshua. The positive side, however, is that they decided to reflect and give us 30% of the cost for the...
Read moreI stayed here two nights ago and they will not allow me to submit my review on booking.com
So here it is and I've knocked off another star because of that.
the pros were that the rooms were comfortable and spacious, the bed sheets soft and cosy, the bathroom really nice with lots of space and a nice shower (was a bit slow to warm up)
we saw that a better room was available for less than what we were paying on the day we arrived and the staff said they could move us to a slightly better room but not that one. They tried to accommodate us as best they could.
the laundry service although expensive was extremely quick and efficient
The cons: the pool and spa area is not open in the day. the whole reason we booked the hotel was because we had done the Salkantay trek and we wanted to relax in a jacuzzi our last day in Cusco. we even paid for late check out for this specific reason as we had a night bus at 9pm.
the night receptionist said he could open it for us at 1pm as it is normally open from 5pm-10pm (not advertised anywhere!) but the following day we were told it would not be ready until 4pm. we checked out at 6pm. we were not impressed by this.
what we were even more unimpressed with was the jacuzzi itself. the water was still filling into the jacuzzi when we left at 5:30pm and it was not a hot tub at all more like a tepid bath. the steam room and sauna were nice but not really the experience we had been after.
they had separate jacuzzi baths which I guess they could have let us use but we weren't offered and they were filthy anyway.
the breakfast was as simple as I have experienced at £7/night stays with the addition of fruit and yogurt. some of the bread was stale and there were a lot of flies in the breakfast room
it just was not worth the money for the state of the facilities provided and the...
Read moreTerrible by my low standards. It just got worse as our stay went on. We arrived from a night bus at 4am and asked for a late check out. We were pleased they were able to accommodate this, but we paid an extra £20 for the privilege (which at this point we were happy to pay, thinking we were saving money with a breakfast and spa day included). ||||We went straight to bed but were awoken 15 minutes later when we heard a loud knocking on the door, I got up and answered the door and they told us they’d forgotten our towels so I took the towels and went to bed, we now have 4 towels. 2 were already in the room and 2 from the mysterious night visitor. Then about 10 minutes later the phone rang- we answered and they had forgotten to ask us when we arrived in the country, possibly needed but not crucial at 4:30am. ||||Finally once proving we were allowed to be in the country, we went to bed and at around 6am we woke up to loud music playing from the breakfast room. We gave in and got up. I had a cold shower which after about 20 minutes suddenly went boiling hot. We then went to have breakfast; which consisted of cold instant coffee, eggs, fruit and some mysterious shriveled meats that smelled a little bit too much like the animal it came from. A fine breakfast, but not for the price. ||||The main reason we’d booked this hotel was for the spa, so after breakfast we thought we’d try it out. We went down to the spa and found all the lights off- it turns out it opens at 5pm for a few hours per day. ||||We didn’t bother with ordering any food after the disappointing stay (and the minibar was empty so no comments there). ||||I’d absolutely recommend staying somewhere else- this hotel is overpriced, disappointing and I have to say has...
