⚠ DISAPPOINTING STAY at FB Dormitel Suites, Cagayan De Oro – NOT SENIOR CITIZEN FRIENDLY, NOT PWD FRIENDLY, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE ⚠

We stayed at FB Dormitel Suites (April 19–20, 2025), and it was one of our worst hotel experiences—especially while traveling with senior citizens and a PWD.

Booking: We reserved three rooms by phone (March 31) and one via Agoda for our group of 20. I confirmed in advance that takeout breakfast boxes would be available for our elderly companions for P20 each—this was important to our plans.

Check-In: We arrived around 8–9 PM. No one welcomed or assisted us. We carried our bags into the lobby, and staff barely acknowledged us. I had to approach the front desk to begin check-in.

Breakfast – April 20: Between 7:30–8:00 AM, CafĂ© Maximo told us there was no rice ready due to a broken cooker and asked us to wait 20 minutes. We were understanding.

After breakfast, I requested the two takeout meals we had pre-arranged for our seniors. A staff member simply said, “Wala na po kaming takeout box.” No apology, no alternatives, no help offered.

I reminded them we confirmed this weeks earlier and insisted they find a solution. Instead, a woman named JUDY—whom I wasn’t speaking to—interjected rudely: “Free na nga yung breakfast niyo, ma’am. Kung gusto niyo ng takeout, edi sana nagdala kayo ng box.”

I asked for her name, and she said, “*JUDY. TELL THE MANAGER.” Then walked out.

Attempts to contact the manager were ignored. Another staff member apologized, but the damage was done.

Final Thoughts: This place lacks basic courtesy and consideration, especially for elderly and differently-abled guests. Poor service, broken promises, and outright disrespect define our experience.

To fellow travelers with seniors or PWD: Avoid FB Dormitel Suites. 0/5 stars. Never...

NOT RECOMMENDED – RUDE STAFF, POOR SERVICE, AND UNWELCOMING ENVIRONMENT

Our family stayed at FB Dormitel Suites in Cagayan de Oro, and we did not have a good experience at all. From the moment we arrived, we felt unwelcome. There was no orientation, no proper guidance, and definitely no warm hospitality. The staff did not make us feel like guests—they barely acknowledged us, even when we arrived as a large group.

The most upsetting part of our stay was the behavior of the staff, especially a woman named Judy. Her attitude was extremely disrespectful, especially when we tried to request takeout for our senior and PWD family members. Instead of helping or offering any alternatives, she answered in a rude tone and said:

“Libre na nga yung breakfast niyo, ma’am. Kung gusto niyo ng takeout, edi sana nagdala kayo ng box.” (Translation: “Your breakfast is already free, ma’am. If you wanted takeout, then you should’ve brought a box.”)

This kind of treatment is unacceptable—especially when dealing with senior citizens and people with disabilities. When we tried to escalate the matter, no manager was available, and no real accountability was taken.

If you’re traveling with family, especially with elderly or differently-abled members, we do not recommend this place. It’s not senior-friendly, not PWD-friendly, and the lack of professionalism from the staff made it even worse.

We’re sharing this so others can make informed decisions. We expected at least basic courtesy and decency, but unfortunately, FB Dormitel Suites failed us in...

Disappointing Stay – Not Ideal for Seniors and PWD

We recently stayed at a hotel in Cagayan de Oro with our family, including senior citizens and a person with disability (PWD). Sadly, the experience left us frustrated and disappointed.

From the moment we arrived, there was a noticeable lack of hospitality. No staff welcomed us or offered help as we brought in our things, despite being a big group. Small gestures matter, especially after a long trip—but we were met with indifference.

One of the most frustrating parts was breakfast. We had confirmed ahead of time that meals could be packed for our elderly family members who couldn’t come down easily. However, when we asked, we were told takeout boxes were no longer available—just like that. No apology. No alternatives. Just a cold “we don’t have it.”

When we tried to explain the situation, one staff member responded rudely, dismissing our concern entirely. It was disheartening, especially since we had made the request in advance to accommodate our senior and PWD companions.

It became clear to us that the place was not equipped or trained to handle guests with special needs. The lack of empathy, proper communication, and accountability from the staff only made things worse.

We hope this feedback reaches the right people—not to spread hate, but to spark improvement. Families with elderly or differently-abled members deserve better care and...

I booked for 2 weeks here and fully paid for my stay with their assurance that they have strong internet connection. BUT! No matter what they tell you, the wifi at this place is actually super unstable! You won't be able to do video calls inside your room because of how poor the internet connection is. You won't be able to really make use of the smart TV in your room. They will tell you to either hang out outside where the signal is better or at their café at the ground floor where there's a lot of other people. You can't use the telephone for outside calls. They don't provide you with free drinking water and you have to pay 10 pesos per cup of hot water. They won't clean your room unless you tell them and about requests, the housekeeping staff will tell you "mamaya ko na gagawin mam kasi busy pa po ako" I'm generous with these 2 stars because the only ok thing about this place is their manager, Pablo. He really tried to fix the internet issue although it didn't get resolved. I actually asked for an electric hot water heater and he made it happen (still no free drinking water tho) It would have been one of the places to stay in Cagayan de Oro if the internet was actually good, the hotel staff was actually trained properly, and they provide drinking water for free. (Also they don't have windows for solo rooms)

The place is clean and the rooms are spacious. We got the loft rooms to accommodate 5 people. Basic cooking utensils and plates are available in the room. No toiletries provided. You will have access to eating places outside. Their restaurant is a bit pricey. We paid 255 for a basic plain rice with hotdog which you can get at a lower price somewhere. It didn't even come with a coffee at all. But overall, the rooms are good. Ample parking space which you'll find rare in other suites at that location.

It was a pleasant stay for a few days here. The room is clean though not that spacious. The sink though still has some dried toothpaste residue. Water is clean although I wish they had heating facility. The staff are attentive to my requests. The internet can be quite unstable at times on my side of the building.
