GC Suites — Hotel in Cagayan de Oro

I stayed for more than 20 days and overall, I'm happy! However, as usual, these are my observations: ||Pros: ||1. It's close to everywhere! Just step outside and you'll see taxis and jeeps waiting and of course, motorella! :)|2. The room I booked was spacious. Pillows are just right. |3. Staff members are very polite, cheerful and kind. |4. They have a bidet!!! Yey!|5. Wi-fi's good at night and early morning. I get about 50ish download speed. :)|6. There are two elevators you can use. Only one functions from 10/11pm - 7am. |7. Their snack, water, etc aren't that pricey. Just right! |8. Just walk around the next blocks and you'll find lots of places to eat. |9. There's Chingketea and it's included in your daily coupon. ||Cons: |1. I don't know if it's happening with other rooms but my bathroom really smells! I literally have to cover the sink because I feel like that's where it was coming from. |2. They need to buy new towels, seriously. I know it's clean but there's this smell that won't go away from the old ones. You can tell it's old, trust me.|3. The ac in my room was acting up all the time. I didn't make a big fuss out of it because I'm not using it most of the time (because I'm out at work), besides, I don't want to transfer room anymore because my room is so accessible. The staff also said that it happens from time to time and I just need to unplug, plug it back in, turn it of or on. |4. I had to connect an HDMI device at the back of the TV and oh boy! It was dusty, swear! I hope when you clean the rooms, please clean everything!!|5. I left specific instructions on what to clean but, since I checked in and checked out, my bathroom (toilet, sink, shower) wasn't cleaned at all. |6. There's live band playing until 11PM. I can't sleep for the first few nights and I got used to it. |7. There are lots of people downstairs from afternoon to evening. Brace yourself! That means, you'll have to wait longer for the elevator. |8. I don't know if it's just my room but my keycard keeps on deactivating and I had to go back and forth the reception to get it working again. ||I'd still rated GC a good hotel despite the cons. I really hope there's improvement...

GC Suites is small hotel in Cagayan de Oro City with over 40 rooms. The hotel is located in Divisoria in downtown CDO. Reception area or front desk office is at the 4th floor, with the 1st to 3rd floor of the building rented for other business establishments. Although the building looks more like a small mall, the business establishments provide a good place for dining as there are a lot of restaurants.

The reservation was quite simple, I only had to call their reservation number. The staff who responded was very accommodating and gave me a return call as soon for feedback.

Although hotel lobby was at the 4th floor, tansfer was fairly easy with no dramas. The room was quite big, and the bathroom was roomy enough. The hot water in the bathroom takes more time to get warm, so I was concious about all the fresh water I was wasting. I can't, however, take cold showers so I had no choice but to wait.

There is no free water bottles but te cost of the bottles in the fridge was alright, and so are the snack item, that we did not hestate to just get a bottle and some snacks. The bed only has two pillows, and requesting for additional comes with a fee. The hotel can provide free water kettle if you want hot water.

There is no restaurant but there is free meal stubs which you can present to restaurants downstairs. What's better is that the breakfast stub can be used anytime during the day.

Although not one of the better hotels I have stayed in but definitely a good one if you want to save a few bucks. Plus factor for this hotel is it's location and vicinity to places for dining. I would recommend you to try this hotel if...

It's very nice and good location. 2 floors in an nice building. Open floor outside is the Lobby, it's has restaurant's open until 11pm. Live music at night in the open area. The suite was good, but no SAFE. Wifi is an issue, but it's okay. TV, do lose some channels and needs to be reset, hot water in bathroom is good and aircon is good There was ants, but use Baygon and it did the job now no more ants. Our first stay was in October 2017 and this is our 5th time and always over 30 days. The Front Desk has excellent staff and good with any problems, someone on duty at night, 24 hours Armed Security Guards. Love staying here. Can use credit cards and cash. Close to all the Mall's and get to many places easily, like DIVINE Mercy and many Vans at the Mall's. Excellent stay, will be back. An VERY BIG shout out to CHAI front desk and JEFFREY, Housekeeping, Security Guards and Building staff, and with all of their help for many years, too many others to name them all.
