Hotel Pier Cuatro - 2 Star — Hotel in Cebu City

So How did my wife and I find this little Gem in a very dodgy part of town? We were on the last boat out of Cebu to Bohol and The Ocean Jet broke down, eventually turned around and made its way slowly back to Cebu. The Coast Guard didn't allow them to send a later boat so all the passengers were really inconvenienced by Ocean Jet and were forced to find accommodation nearby the terminal without any compensation.

Fortunately for us, we didn't have a super strict timeline to follow like the other passengers.

We found the Hotel Pier Cuatro in a questionable area but i suppose the whole port area is a tad bit questionable. Once inside, we found it quaint, clean and the staff super friendly and helpful. It has an older vibe but totally accommodating. The room was small but clean and had all the basic necessities. there is a decent mall a couple blocks away with a TGIF restaurant and some other food joints. We had to walk past a pay-by-the-hour motel (if you catch my drift) to get to it but we were in no position to complain and just happy we found a decent hotel close to the shipping terminal.

Value for Money: The standard room was affordable.

Location: Very convenient, being within the city and near a mall.

Cleanliness: Unfortunately, this was the area that fell short. The linens had stains, the air conditioning unit was noisy (the fan seemed broken and kept hitting the window), and the room had a musty, mold-like smell. During our stay, both my partner and I experienced sneezing and wheezing, and after checking out, I developed a runny nose and itchy throat. It may be due to staying in the standard room, but regardless of room type, I believe cleanliness and air quality should be consistent.

Staff: The staff were very helpful and accommodating, always assisting with our requests.

Facilities: The standard room did not have a bidet, but when we requested a bucket and dipper, the staff promptly provided them.

We spend one night at Pier Cuatro. Where can Instart? Room with no window, tiny, smelly and toilet with no fkush or better with such anlow water pressure that would not flush.
