My Friends and I are local residents of Cebu City and we’ve decided to spend our weekend in Moalboal, together with our friends who came from the UK as they also wanted to go on diving and explore the place.
Although it was just the two of our British friends who booked a room at this Resort, we had the chance of being invited by them, and they were kind enough offer their place so we can rest and wait for the earliest bus at 2 a.m. Everything went well ,all of us had fun. Unfortunately, never had we experienced being disrespected and being belittled by our fellow countrymen ( which is a sad fact in this country). We understand the exclusivity and the policies the resort wanted to implement . It was on how the guard on duty approached us and told us to leave.
This happened just recently - It was just last Sunday February 12, 2017.
First Incident February 12, 2017 at around 3 o'clock p.m. - Me and 3 of my Filipino friends decided to go to the pool area to have a dip. But we were told to leave the pool area as it was exclusive ONLY for the guests. So we went back to our British's friends room, and just waited outside for them to arrive from diving.Imagine the feeling of being thrown away. But we understood that.
But the second incident was the worse one, that was probably 1:30 a.m. February 13,2017, after a long night out from one of the Resto bars in Panagsama - While we were trying to wind down the time just outside the balcony of our British friend's room until we can get a bus for us to go home, this Guard- on - duty approached us and told us that we were not allowed to stay there because we were NOT guests of the resort and that it is exclusive only for their guests in a very condescending and authoritative manner! We totally understood that. But it's the rudeness we just cannot accept. We remained our composure during the course of that interaction as someone needed to be the bigger person during that time. We were very apologetic to him, asked him if we can stay just a little bit longer since it was just less than 30 minutes before our bus arrives. We even told him that we are not from there and was also very tired, was cold and we were just there not that long because our British friends wanted us to be there so they can have some company, and they wanted us to have a safe place to stay before we head back home. Even so, the Guard was still adamant in telling us to leave and that our explanation is unacceptable , and that we need to wake up our British friends who were fast asleep during that time. Our friend woke up and the guard once again tried to explain that non- guests were not allowed.
We felt really embarrassed of the situation, felt being degraded. At least he could have asked us politely and so we can just leave graciously. We asked him to just spare us a few minutes which we think could not do any harm or damage to their resort, as we we’re literally was just sitting outside. We asked him if we can perhaps stay longer , that is because Filipinos are known to being sympathetic and kind. But this guy was not unfortunately.
I know that I should not typecast him to all of the people there and most specifically of that resort and that they are just doing their job as instructed, but at least have some basic manners? And basic training for good customer service? And most importantly treat everyone equally no matter what the...
Read moreI only stayed here for a few days but I could have easily seen myself staying there longer.||The resort consists of a number of little cottages set in a lovely garden. My cottage (I assume the others were similar) consisted of a largeish main room/bedroom with a curatin separated kitchenette and a small bathroom. There was also a patio/verandah with a table and a couple of chairs. There is also pool and a restaurant/bar area (which is the only place you can access the free wifi).||It's about a 8-10 minute walk along the road parallel to the sea, past a few other resorst, dive shops, restaurants and other businesses (including quite a good scooter hire establishment, and laundry, whose services I was very satisfied with) to get to the main beach/road hub, or about 15-18 minutes the long way back up to the main road farther from the shore.||The reception staff were very helpful, making calls for me to the port at Liloan to find out/make sure the ferries were running for my onward journey to Negros/Dumaguete (storms at the time I was there had led to various sea journeys being cancelled in the...
Read moreA hidden gem, I believe this is, by far, the best resort in this price range that I have seen during my 14 years in the Philippines. The rooms are big and comfortable with aircon, cable TV with lots of channels, big enclosed shower with hot water (they even provide face / wash cloths), bar fridge, and they even have a walk-in closet containing wall safe and umbrellas and a patio with table and chairs. The pool and garden are beautiful and there is ample parking on-site. The included breakfast was very satisfying with unlimited brewed coffee. Drinks at the bar were very inexpensive and buckets of ice are available to bring to your room. The resort is only 2 minutes walk to the shore and only 5 minutes walk from Chili Bar. The only down side was the lack of wifi in the rooms but the wifi in the public areas was very good. The staff were pleasant, courteous and helpful. I wish I had stayed longer but will surely come back! Highly...
