Kalachuchi Hostel for Divers — Hotel in Coron

DO NOT book at this hostel. It is NOT SAFE. I dont know where to begin. During all my travellings this is by far the worst travel experience I have ever had and witnessed. The owner threatened physical violence against my female friend. After that we were followed by staff. The owner was hostile and unfriendly from the minute he arrived. I sincerely and genuinely advice against staying at this hostel, especially for female travellers!!! ||More detailed description: |The staff sent an email asking when we would arrive, we replied two days prior. Then arriving very tired after a 10 hour night bus and 4 hours waiting at the airport + 1 hour domestic flight to our disappointment nothing was ready and the receptionist didnt know what room my friend was supposed to have (we had seperate bookings). She asked us to go to get lunch and then come back later because the owner was dining. After the long travel and since it was to no surprise at what hour we would arrive we said that we'd like to check in first. ||After a while the owner and his wife arrived, they didnt greet us and were distant and unfriendly. It was insisted that we'd take of our flipflops and walked barefoot even though we were outside. My friend was shown her room and didn't like the fact that the only window was facing the common area and since it being really warm outside it would prevent her from being able to keep the window open in the evening. The owner didnt respond well, he asked if there was something wrong with the description online. She said no, not that she knew of but that she'd like to reconsider. The owner and his wife hovered over us, my friend asked for a bit of privacy if possible. After a few minutes the owner suddenly came back furious and threatening. Said he wanted us to leave the property immediately. My friend addressed that this behaviour was both unfair and disrespectful. He became even more angry ending in threatening to hit my friend while standing over her with threatening body language. We decided to leave immediately. ||After about walking for 2 minutes his wife (also hostel staff) came after us on her motorbike, threatening to follow us to find out were we would stay next. We were so afraid since Coron is not a big island, we managed to get away though and stayed in another part of town put of of fear of being harassed. ||In my opinion this hostel should certainly not be allowed to service tourists and it comes as a big surprise that it even does. I have never in my life witnessed anything like this. Besides that the facilities are neither fire- or burglar safe.||My friend is a respected kind and loving person whom never lost her temper and did not do anything else but be honest about her concerns about the room. ||No one should ever be threatened or followed like...

WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, ITS NOT SAFE/ AVISO: MANTENERSE ALEJADO DE ESTE LUGAR, NO ES SEGURO.||||We came to this place with a reservation. I didnt like the room I was given and asked the owner if he could change it. He was hostile from the start saying that we could leave if we didnt like it (the reservation couldnt be cancelled at that point). I asked for some time to discuss it with my friend. The owner came back shortly saying that we should leave "and were not allowed to be there". We replied he had no right to kick us out as we hadnt done anything wrong, he said he could do whatever he wanted as he was the owner, and then he threatened to slap me, repeating it several times.||||A man, much bigger than myself, threatening with physical violence two women travelling alone. I think this person has anger management issues and could easily get violent and hurt someone. ||||We went out of there as quickly as possible, feeling very scared and vulnerable after they kicked us out and threatened us. Having walked a few minutes when the owner's wife came after us in a motorbike telling us we had to pay her the taxi fare (400 pesos, equivalent to 6 euro) they had arranged to take us to the hostel from the airport that she would follow us if we didnt. ||I told her I had never been treated like this anywhere in the world, to what she replied if we wanted good treatment we should go somewhere expensive. ||We later found out that the taxi fare the hostel was charging is much more expensive than the usual fare other hotels change. ||||So, they are not only hostile and violent but dishonest. The hostel is very basic and has "windows" with no glass or mosquito net, and very poor security. The location is not good. It might be cheap but believe me, Its not worth it and for a similar price you can get better an safe places in Coron. Also, we couldnt review the hostel through the platform we made a reservation (booking.com) as the owner lied and said we didn't show up... we informed the platform of the situation, but they didnt really care and didnt allow us to make a review... I hope people read this review here so they know what type of place this...

Stay away !! I booked 4 nights with my partner but we had to run away after one night as I have been severly bitten by BEDBUGS. The owner is despicable and consider that he owes you no respect as you are staying in a "cheap" accommodation. Few facts in addition to bedbugs : We rented a motorbike and parked it inside (as we always do in every hostels / hotels in Philippines), the owner asked us to pay 150pesos/day for the parking !! So we decided to let the motorbike outside in the street... this morning after a terrible night trying to sleep with bedbugs, he came to us saying that I was disrepectful as I was wearing my (clean) shoes outside in the terrace (barefoot area) and that we should leave maximum at 11am for the check out time. We were just confused, stressed out and trying to find a new accommodation...! He admitted that bedbugs are easily hidden in bamboo and woods. All the rooms are made out of bamboo.. No isolation at all. You hear everything from outside / inside the hostel.

I have been traveling 1 month in Philippines and this is the worst accommodation ever ! You will find other hostels with almost the same price but a real service and respect for the guests. Cheap price doesn't allow this...
