An Unforgettable Dive Experience with Patrick at Neptune Dive Shop!! My recent Advanced Open Water and Nitrox certifications with Patrick at Neptune Dive Shop in Coron were nothing short of extraordinary. Patrick isn't just an instructor; he's a true gem, combining unparalleled knowledge with a genuine passion for diving and a remarkable ability to connect with his students. He's a person who will undoubtedly stay with me for life. Throughout my certification, we explored an incredible 6 out of 8 Japanese wreck dives, a testament to his dedication and the depth of the experience he provides. Patrick's expertise goes far beyond the basics; he possesses intricate blueprints of the wrecks and goes above and beyond to brief you thoroughly on what you're about to encounter. This meticulous preparation ensures you're not just seeing the sites, but truly understanding and appreciating their history and unique features before you even descend. One of the most memorable aspects was his generosity in allowing me a fantastic 50-minute dive through one of his favorite wrecks. This personal touch, combined with his extensive knowledge of the dive sites and their history, made each dive an immersive and educational adventure. Patrick's professionalism, deep understanding of diving, and his genuine, caring approach make him an exceptional instructor. If you're looking for a dive experience that combines top-tier instruction with personal connection and unforgettable underwater exploration, look no further than Patrick at Neptune Dive Shop. He truly makes diving an art form.

Update: Six years later I am still diving with Neptune. This is a smaller shop but can handle reasonably sized groups. The biggest advantage is that you get personal attention from highly experienced local DM’s. The DM’s have been diving these wrecks for years and are very safety minded. In this part of the world you can always expect a bit of the unexpected and these guys do their very best to make things work. I can highly recommend this dive shop if you want to visit the wrecks of Coron. . this is my second visit to Coron and second time diving with Neptune Dive Center. i came to Coron for the wrecks and found Neptune through its PADI rating. i must say i have been totally satisfied with both the diving and Neptune. my DM Jessie and i explored the wrecks from bow to stern and left very little unexplored. since we were diving Nitrox on most occasions it was just my DM Jessie and myself which gave us a good deal of freedom in our dive plan. this time of year june-july is the rainy and low season so there were minimal boats on the water. during my last visit in january it was much more crowded and virtually no rain. i brought my own equipment but can verify the rental gear i saw was in good condition which can be an issue with dive centers in this part of the world. being the philippines there were a few minor hiccups but if you are patient they will ultimately be resolved by the staff. had a very wonderful time with the friendly crew and staff and can recommend this dive center as a place to start your wreck diving adventure.

Booked three fun dives with fresh Open Water certificate for the day after New Year’s Day (public holiday) - 1000PHP as a deposit (5000 in total, including everything). Met at 7.30am, chose our equipment and made – with a little late start – to the boat separately from the staff/crew. As one of the DM didn’t show up that morning, our group consisting of three open water divers would be guided by “The Boy”. We would end up seeing three different wracks this day: #1 Olympia Maru, #2 Morazan Maru and #3 Teru Kaze Maru. As a newly certified OP, I was not accustomed to see the emotion of anger from my guide. Two things stood out: First, when I wouldn’t be quick enough to reach the rope following our ascend back up, and secondly, when deflation of my BCD was necessary underwater. In my opinion the harsh reactions were not warranted and somewhat unnecessary. As he was great in every other aspect: clear info and instruction before every dive site and of the dive site, regular checkup of his group during our dives and making small stops at the site where something would be worth seeing; I do not believe the above mentioned two minor miscommunications need a differentiation from a 5-star review. Would recommend Neptune Dive Center for an overall great experience!

We booked 2 days before to dive barracuda lake and 2 nice wreck sites. Staff were pretty nice but the problems started the next day.

My girlfriend was given a regulator with clear abrasion damage on the backup cable from being overused and not replaced for a long time. We asked about it at the shop and they said it was ok. But we were worried. On the boat we asked twice more to two different divemasters and they both gave the go ahead.

At 20 metres depth, 5 minutes into our first dive, that same regulator started to dump all air from the tank as the cut from the abrasion damage had a failure, my girlfriend ended up with 0 bar at 20 metres, we had to do an emergency ascent and the dive was aborted, absolutely insane scenario that could have been easily avoided.

The divemasters apologised and tried to play it off for the rest of the diving.

When we got back to the shop, the minimum expectation we had was that someone would come to formally apologise and talk to us, this did not happen, we were completely ignored and the only refund given was for the 1 dive and only for my girlfriend even though BOTH of us were on the same dive that was aborted due to their incompetence and outdated equipment. An astounding refund of 800 pesos.

It’s not in my nature to come to poorer countries and nickel and dime people but the minimum expectation for the gross negligence shown would be to have given us the dives for free and an apology from the dive shop owner or managenent, but nothing, something tells me what we experienced wasn’t their first time.

Equipment here is a disaster, wetsuits with holes, other people’s regulators going into free flow which they couldn’t stop, leaky tanks with bad o rings and leaking BCDs, the list goes on. The worst diving we have done ever.

I still want to thank Ronald the divemaster for helping my girlfriend at first during our emergency ascent and for making her feel safe on the following 2 dives in some beautiful wrecks even when she was hesistant after what had just happened.

If you still want to dive here, check your equipment and demand they change it like your life depends on it, because it does,...

Factory-like dive centre.

Communication was an issue on several instances with Neptune. First when we were told that we could go tech diving for the next day at 1PM before being informed 6 hours later that this was not possible anymore because a minimum of two divers is necessary. Second, when we were asked to arrive at 8:30AM for recreational dives before being scolded for being late when arriving at 8:25AM because the tricycle had left 15 minutes ago.

This dive center is run in a professional and safe manner (briefing, hang tank) but expect to be ignored on board by the staff. This would be fine if our divemaster did not get upset with us after the first dive and kept snapping at us for no obvious reason. When we asked him if there was any problem the subject was waved off but his attitude did not particularly change for the rest of the day. However, underwater, he was helpful and efficient guiding us through the wrecks.

The boat used for daily excursion is very small. Do not expect to have any room to store any of your dry equipment or lay down to relax. You will be given a 1 meter seat on a bench and asked to store your gear under your seat in a box. Apart from one bean bag on one of the outriggers and a 1 square meter on the bow this is it the only area they expect 12 people to have lunch and spend 8 hours including surface intervals.

The manager is particularly unfriendly if not rude. He seems to be bothered by most costumers as he never greeted or said goodbye to his guests when we were at the shop. Upon return after our day excursions, we were told to "Wait!" to be able to pay. After 30 minutes, an erroneous receipt was presented to us. Be careful if you are using your own equipment as the discount is not automatically applied to the total price.

We came here to fun dive, we felt like unwanted guests waiting...
