Its not rough terrain but there are 724 steps up to the top!
There are little break points on the way as well so if you need a sit down you can!
I advise taking a litre of water with you, especially if you're going when its super hot here!
This is a free site and was created with the tax payers money which is a really nice gesture of the Phillipino Government.
On our way up we kept looking back at the beautiful views, we saw for miles over Coron bay and we couldn't wait to get to the top to take it all in & take some amazing photos to show people back in England. Unfortunately this was not what played out!
At around 500 steps the sky decided that actually it didn't want to be clear and sunny, instead it wanted to pour down with rain and with that grey sky completely masked our view of anything further away than 15ft!
Because of this i cannot base this review on the view from the top but i can tell you thank from when we were looking back, there were amazing views before the heavens opens and if we were to have had more time here we would have taken another trip to the top. (We were told by a local who we told our story to, that the best time to go up is really early, before the clouds come over and before...
Read moreIf you are not in good shape, don't attempt this 700+ steps climb! If you do, be prepared to spend a few hours making the climb. You will be rewarded at the top with breathtaking views of Coron Town, Coron Bay, Coron island and Busuanga Island. They were building a walkway to brings you to the CORON letters for more photo ops I'm assuming. Also at the long landing near the bottom, they were contructing some sort of snack or bar stand presumably for visitors who want to wait for others in their party who will take the climb to the top while they sip on cool refreshments. Only 4 stars, because i wanted to see some sort of map of what you are vieiwing from the top as you look at the amazing scenery. Also manybe a signboard with a history of the area or identifying flora and fauna native...
Read moreMt. Tapyas is a great place to include on your itinerary when you go to Coron. It is just within the town itself so it is really accessible. Also, it is included on most travel packages for most travel and tours so don't worry. It took us 15 minutes to reach the top including all the stops we had, you all know... getting old guys. There are many kids selling products that are really usable if you go island hopping. The view of the sunset is just amazing. I have seen El Nido's sunset but this one is also great. With all the city's view topped up with clean skies and shining waters, you will also find this small hike a very interesting one. On our way down, we have seen that the cross was lit up. It was beautiful. There are also souvenir shops near the area so don't forget to...
